To be more exact, statewide keeping of death certificates began in Mississippi in November, 1912 according to a mandate from the state legislature. Hi Elaine, I was also looking in the Franklin Co., Miss. marriage records. I found Charles Robinson and Louisa Wright's marriage and I found a lot of other Robinson marriages but none fit the Children of Charles and Louisa. Even the cemetery records didn't fit. I am still looking. I am also interested in the Flowers and Havis. Sandi C., Your are as usual absolutely correct but even with mandate the system was flawed for years and there are an insurmountable number of cases in the State of Mississippi after that time when deaths were simply overlooked and not reported. Even as late as the 1940-1944 time frame I know of deaths that happened in Beauvoir, the CSA Old Soldier's Home in Biloxi, where the individuals were buried in the backyard cemetery and their deaths were not formally reported. Later when they closed the place they apparently trashed the records and they no longer know the relationship of the people buried in the backyard or when many of them died. Tony Miller
Elaine, Did most of these Robinson children hang a sign on the door that said "Gone To Texas"? I find no Franklin County marriages for any of them. I know your gg grandmother married James E. Havis, Jr. (Also from Franklin County) but I don't have any idea where or when they were married. In the 1850 Franklin County census there were Rights/Wrights living on both sides of Charles Robinson and Louisa Wright Robinson Also, in their house (No 349) there was a Mary Right , aged 71, b. DE living with them who was probably her grandmother. Tony Miller
Hi, I am researching Robinsons in Franklin Co, MS. Charles Robinson and Louisa Wright had children Sarah, Thomas, Josephine, Levi, Elijah and Mary Rebecca Robinson (my gg-grandmother). Elaine
Ann: You are right, and i was too. The Court House for the County (for city of Bude) is Meadville. So check city records for Bude, and County records at Meadville, as well as Brookhaven. But I know someone found it already in Meadville. I am sorry I did not word it right. Blame it on sick old man syndrone. VBG ED Ann Geoghegan wrote: > There is no BUDE County in MS! Michelle, The marriage records for Franklin Co., MS are in the Meadville Court House and they are maintained by Mrs. Emfinger. Do two left turns when you walk in the front door of the building and your in the right office. The information on the marriage you inquired about is as follows: Franklin Co., MS Marriages Volume 4 Page 129/KNOX, Alvie/ Corrie LOVINGO/4Jan1911/C.M.O'Neal MG MG = Minister of Gospel Tony Miller in Calabasas, CA
Looking for a late 1910 marriage record in the McCall Creek area between Mrs. Cornie LOVRIEN (maiden name BYRD) and John A KNOX. (could possibly be Joseph A Knox). The marriage probably took place sometime between July 1910 and Feb 1911. Would appreciate any help. Thanks, Michelle
