    3. Christy, The book says that Carrie was the daughter of Bill Rushing. Born 14 Mar 1878. Died 10 Apr 1938 at the age of 60. Married WC "Bill" Chisolm 8 Jun 1894, Franklin Co. Gives 2 other marriages, which I think is in error. I am willing to go on a bear hunt or wild goose chase if anyone can send me toward the right path.........and I wait anxiously for anyone's ideas on how to spend my time looking! yvette

    3. Sharla and Allen, I checked my Carmichael family history for Walker and Hardy, but didn't find either who married a Carmichael. My Carmichaels came from the Isle of Lismore, Scotland and settled first in Richmond Co., NC and some then moved across the state line to Marion Co., SC. From there, they went to AL, MS, TX and beyond, but that's where they started out. By the way, Sharla, your Bosticks weren't by any chance from Richmond Co., NC, were they? 3. Hi Sharla, I'm going to send you the Carter first names, in case any are familiar to you. Absolem; Cader; Jacob; James; Jamse D.; John; Mathew, Sr.; Mathew, Jr.; Micajah; William The first chance I get, I'll look through the Carters and see if I can narrow them down.....as far as dates, and whether they provide any helpful info, etc. I'm behind on my North Carolina census look-ups right now, but I'll try to get back to you in a few days. I believe most library genealogy rooms would probably have these books. I wish I could remember where I purchased them, but it's been a good while ago and I can't recall where it was. The title to the first book is "Passports Issued by Governors of Georgia, 1785-1809" and the second is "Passports...........1810-1820" by Mary G. Bryan; published by the National Genealogy Society in 1959 and 1964. Don't worry if you can't locate one, I'll get all the names to you, it just might be a little while! 2. Waddell
    3. Message for Debbie Alley: I got this from a Middleton researcher. Do you know anything about this family? thanks! debbie Waddell ***************************************** According to my Middleton index, there was a Robert Middleton in the 1820 census of Amite Co., MS. This could be Permela's father. This could be Robert Middleton Jr, son of Robert from GA, SC & Miss, who was the grandson of Robert Middleton of MD. I have only records of three children for Robert Jr; however, there could have been more. The three that I have are- (1) Hatton Middleton m. 1807 in Adams Co., MS (2) William Clark Middleton (his daughter Judith m. 1866 in Amite Co.) (3) Eliza Bell Middleton married 1805 in Adams Co., to David B. Morgan

    3. Susan, I don't see either with the first name you have, but there are four Campbells: James,1812, traveling from the state of North Carolina to the Western Country, no mention of a family with him. Duncan, 1812, traveling with a Daniel Maloy, from Chesterfield District, South Carolina to the Western Country, no mention of family. Joab, 1810, traveling from Richmond Co., Georgia, through the Creek Nation of Indians, no mention of family. Rev. John Campbell.....there's a letter of recommendation for John, and also mention of family. It reads: "His Excellency, Jared Irwin Gov. The bearer the Rev. John Campbell together with his family, consisting of his wife, two children and two negroes, is desirous of emigrating to the County of Wilkinson in the Mississippi Territory. He has uniformly demeaned himself as an honest peaceably upright citizen, to whom your Excellency may with safety grant such passports as are usually granted to persons in like situations. Hines Holt; Shadrich Fluellen; J. H. Possey." Unfortunately, the date is incorrect, it's listed as 1898, and that was a long, long time after passports were no longer required. They could've meant 1798, or maybe 1808? I wouldn't let the mention of Wilkinson Co. rule it out, most of my ancestors tried two or three counties in every state! :-) There's no Vincent Carter, but I can't send you the entries for all of the Carters......way too many to type! Hope this helps fit a puzzle together one day! I'm not sure if either traveled as a child or alone, so any CAMPBELL or CARTER coming in to the new territory could very well be a link to breaking down my brick wall. If this is not in your possession, could you please advise me on where I might find such a book. 3. I got a lead on Robert Thornhill that might help out. See the following message: Debbie, I might have some good news for you. From "Passports Issued by Governors of Georgia, 1785-1820:" "Saturday, 2nd March 1811. On application ORDERED that passports be prepared for the following persons to travel through the Creek Nation of Indians, to wit, one for Mr. ROBERT THORNHILL, Mr. William Thornhill and his wife and five children and his wife's mother, Mr. William Odom, Mr. Joseph Thornhill with his wife and six negroes.....all from Beaufort District, South Carolina. Which were presented and signed." The timing is right and it looks as though Robert is still single when he travels across GA to the MS Territory. William and Joseph were probably his brothers. Since everyone needed a passport to pass through the Indian Nations during this time period, the passport books are a really good resource for otherwise hard to find names. I hope this is your Robert. (They don't usually give the wife or children's names, so I don't know if you'd like to have the info, but there are two Middletons in the book......John and Martin.)
