    1. [MSFRANKL-L] New Franklin County, MS American History & Genealogy Project Site!
    2. Ann Allen Geoghegan
    3. Hello everyone, I am very pleased to announce that I have built a new site for Franklin County, MS for the American History and Genealogy Project! Please join me in thanking Tony Miller and Barbara Celotto for all their efforts and continuing contributions to this project. The site already has over 80 pages and is growing daily. I have not completed the Franklin Civil War Project, and a couple of other items that are in the works, but it will be well worth your time to visit! This project is a direct result of a conversation I had with Ms. Jo Nita Porter, Librarian at Lincoln-Lawrence- Franklin Library. She wanted a place to refer folks to who came to the library for research on the history and people of Franklin County. I am accepting any and all types of contributions to the site EXCEPT GEDCOMS and Family TREES! There is, however a family group sheet project where you can submit as many individual families as you wish, (preferably with sources, so others can find the information)! There is a photo project where you can contribute your own collection of photos and they will not be mixed with anyone else (everyone has their own separate page)! There is just too much stuff on there to list, so go take a look! Franklin County, Mississippi AHGP http://www.rootsweb.com/~msfrank2/ I think you will enjoy it! Let me have your comments and suggestions as soon as possible as I am making additions daily! Thank you, Ann Allen Geoghegan County Coordinator for: Franklin County, Mississippi AHGP http://www.rootsweb.com/~msfrank2/ Franklin County, ALGenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~alfrankl Jefferson County MSGenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~msjeffe2 Claiborne County MSGenWeb II http://www.rootsweb.com/~msclaib3 Lamar County MSGenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~mslamar Project Coordinator for ALGenWeb - Alabama Families http://www.rootsweb.com/~alfamily Project Coordinator for MSGenWeb - Mississippi Families http://www.rootsweb.com/~msfamily ============================= I collect dead relatives and sometimes a live cousin!

    3. That is a pretty good assumption! I hadn't thought of that! My grandchildren are descended from the bunch that moved in 1920 to Franklin Parish, LA. They are descended from John Harrison Emfinger. I know it was in that general area from the way the precincts run that year. If cemetery preservation is an interest to you, this link will take you to a website with information about a 110 year old cemetery that's about to be sacrificed for a turnpike, including a list of the 3500 people buried in the cemetery and a link to an on-line petition. Paper petitions are also available. http://www.graveinfo.8m.com/ A moving letter from a man whose ancestor is buried in the cemetery can be found at http://www.spiritsojourn.com/nj/reports/hudsonburial.htm Nancy, researching in MS: Garrett, Warren, Dawkins, Carmichael, McCormick, Osborne

I need to know where it is for the communities list! Ephraim Emfinger's descendants lived there and several Ezell families. 2. I have also heard that the CASE families feuded among each other (cousins) and the SMITHs in the same area. One CASE incident involved a love triangle and resulted in the killing of two cousins and wounding of a third. My father knows the story fairly well..I will have to get him to write or record it for me and I will post it here if anyone is interested. I would love to hear about the one posted by the other writer also. Kathy
