    3. Ona, My goodness, I never expected this. You are amazing. The reason I am looking for all MS RHODUS' is that I have been searching for years trying to find the parents of my gggg-grandmother Celia D.A.C. RHODUS. She married James Wesley COBB in Jefferson Co, MS, Sept. 18, 1823. It seems Elizabeth Rhodus married Joseph D. Miller in Jefferson Co, MS, March 8, 1820. I am looking for a family connection between this Elizabeth RHODUS and my Celia RHOCUS. I thought this might help me find who the parents are of Cecile. Supposedly her parents are from SC, but some say TN. I know she went down to LA once in awhile and lived at (or stayed at) something called the Hesperia Plantation (whatever that is). So they just may be related. I'll continue searching. I do thank you so much for your help, very kind of you. Sincerely, Elaine

    1. [MSFRANKL-L] Veteran's History Project
    2. Ann Allen Geoghegan
    3. Hello Folks and Happy New Year! I ran across an interesting project that some of you may not be aware of! It is the Veteran's History Project. I don't know about you, but I have always wondered what it must have been like to be a part of the WPA Writer's Project and now here is a similar chance for everyone to be a part of history! Check it out and let's do our part to preserve the History of these brave men and women. There are already several audio and video recordings of veterans on the site that are very interesting! Check it out at: http://www.loc.gov/folklife/vets/about.html The following article appeared in "Missing Links" Volume 7 No. 52 December 31, 2002 AMERICAN VETERANS. The Veterans History Project covers World War I, World War II, and the Korean, Vietnam, and Persian Gulf wars. It includes all participants in those wars--men and women, civilian and military. It documents contributions of civilian volunteers, support staff, and war industry workers as well as the experiences of military personnel from all ranks and all branches of service--the Air Force, Army, Marine Corps, and Navy. All Americans are encouraged to participate. By interviewing a veteran or war worker as part of the Veterans History Project, you honor those who served our nation during difficult and dangerous periods in our history. It is essential to recognize, as Congress did, the importance of preserving a permanent record of your interviews for future generations of Americans to consult. Please follow carefully the instructions in the Project Kit http://www.loc.gov/folklife/vets/kit.html to ensure that your recording lasts and will be accessible to researchers and the public, both now and in the future. Plan to donate your interview to the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress or to one of our Official Partner organizations in your area who will help us preserve the National Veterans History Collection. Your cooperation will greatly assist the Library of Congress and the American Folklife Center in organizing and making publicly available this large and important collection. We invite veterans, active military personnel, and civilians to join our Volunteer Corps. Volunteers are the individuals who interview war veterans and identify documents to donate. If you are a veteran, you possess a valuable resource in your war memories and military knowledge, and we especially encourage you to participate as both an interviewer and an interviewee. Our Project Kit http://www.loc.gov/folklife/vets/kit.html contains all the information and forms you need to participate as a volunteer interviewer. http://www.loc.gov/folklife/vets/about.html Ann Allen Geoghegan County Coordinator for: Franklin County, ALGenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~alfrankl Project Coordinator for ALGenWeb - Alabama Families http://www.rootsweb.com/~alfamily Jefferson County MSGenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~msjeffe2 Claiborne County MSGenWeb II http://www.rootsweb.com/~msclaib3 Lamar County MSGenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~mslamar Project Coordinator for MSGenWeb - Mississippi Families http://www.rootsweb.com/~msfamily Kenedy County TXGenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~txkenedy/ Willacy County TXGenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~txwillac/

    2. I am a descendant of both Thomas CASE and Elizabeth MINYARD, and Hiram CASE and Elizabeth JACKSON. Does anyone know anything more of these two wives? I know a little about MINYARD, but nothing on JACKSON. Also I have never found anyone who could confirm the parents of Hiram and Thomas CASE. I believe they had other brothers or cousins in the area among which were William, Williamson, and possibly James. My Rembert is John Rembert. My earliest Sutton is William Sutton--I am descended from two of his sons... James Harrison Sutton and Juliann Lang, and Joseph Sutton and Martha Jordan. Kathy
