    1. [MSFRANKL-L] Dewitt Jones
    2. Anyone researching a Dewitt Jones? He would have lived from around 1840 on. I don't know anything else about him. This information was given to be by his great niece about 23 years ago in an interview. An interview, which I just found the notes on.Dewitt could have lived in some of the following counties: Wilkinson, Amite, Franklin, Copiah, Pike, Jefferson, or Adams. He would have had a brother named Austin Jones who was born in 1839 in probably Wilkinson County. Austin was in the 6th Ms. Infantry. He married Nancy Ann Walker. They were living in Franklin county, on the 1880 census. Thank you. Johnie

    3. Recently I saw requests for information on locating copies of the 'Confederate Grave Registrations' and Mrs. McBee's 'Natchez Court Records'. I believe both request were on the Amite mailing list but I am sending this to Franklin and Wilkinson as well. I think it is something that will interest many of you. www.willowbendbooks.com has a CD that includes the following: MS Confederate Grave Registrations, [2 vols.] Mississippi Index of Wills 1800-1900 Marriage and Deaths from MS Newspapers [4 vols] Histories of Attalla, Carroll, Holmes, & Yazoo counties. all for $55 plus shipping. They have a great selection of genealogy, books, CDs and maps. Quite a bit on Mississippi. www.heritagequest.com has May Wilson McBee's "Natchez Court Records',[V167-3] but only on Microfilm. Casey's 3 vols. of the 'History of Amite co, MS'[V167-7] is also available on microfilm. They are not in the catalog by the name of the books, but as: 'MS records filmed in Indiana' www.heritagebooks.com has a good selection of MS books, including "From the Files of the Republican'. [Woodville, Wilkinson co. MS] Be aware, one company may have the book you want and another have the same book, plus several more, on a CD for little more than the cost of one book. Do a little exploring before you place your order. Virginia

    3. Glenn, I almost feel as though I've found a long-lost cousin. Wasn't it your mother who taught the same Sunday School class with my mother at Napoleon Ave. Methodist Church for years and years? In fact, I've been going through my mother's boxes of photos and I just found a picture of the SS class, with my mom and two other ladies, one of whom, I believe, is your mother. I have a complete list of the class of 1925, names and addresses. It's too light to scan, but I've promised Ann I would type it as soon as possible. There's, also, a Jack Cupit listed in LaPlace, LA. My mother often talked about the Cupit family in Franklin Co. I believe both families went to the same church there, if I'm remembering correctly. Also, I think one of my aunts "dated" one of the Cupit brothers in high school! I, also, have my mom's senior high school autograph book, with the good wishes of many of the students. Can't scan it, either, so it will have to wait til I can type it. But, first chance I get, I'll look to see if anyone in your family signed it. If I'm not mistaken about your mom and Napoleon Church, let me know and I'll scan the photo and send it to you, in case it's your mom. It's very good to hear from you, Nancy ----- Original Message ----- From: Glenn Cupit To: Nancy Cc: FranklinCoGenList Sent: Sunday, January 26, 2003 10:24 AM Subject: Re: What's New? Hi Nancy, My dad, Cleon Cupit, 1905-1981, is the 3rd man from the right. His right shoulder is behind your mother's head. Somewhere, (I can't put my hands on it this morning) I have dad's High School Belt Buckle, which I believe has the initials, FHS or FCHS on it. I had his ring, but lost it when I was a teenager. Thanks so much for posting this, I had never seen it, although, I knew he went to all the reunions.
