    1. [MSFRANKL-L] SUTTON/Railroads/Sawmills/Pike and Lawrence County
    2. I too am interested in these---my family (SUTTON) is mentioned in the book "Dummy lines......". During the mid and late 1800's it was said that between the father and the 2 sons they owned 3 saw mills. They were in Lawrence/Lincoln and Pike Counties. The Illinois Central Railroad had a stop at sone of them near the town of Thayer (near Bogue Chitto) and the stop was called "Sutton's Switch". Kathy (SUTTON) Diaz

    3. Hello Mr. Aldridge! I do have the book "Dummy Lines Throught the Longleaf." In fact, I helped Dr. Hoffman with small parts of that book. It deals with the sawmills and logging railroads in Lincoln Co., where there was longleaf yellow pine. Of course, some of those companies logged into Franklin and Amite Co., as well as eastward into Lawrence and Marion Counties. I am trying to continue Dr. Hoffman's research into other parts of the state. Thanks for the help, though! Best wishes, Tony Howe Ocean Springs, Miss.

    3. Of course, you are correct. but, that is what it says, and it does deal more with the areas of east Franklin on to the east. ----- Original Message ----- From: Fulton Harrigill <fultonh@halcyon.com> To: <MSFRANKL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, December 23, 2000 10:44 PM Subject: Re: [MSFRANKL-L] Logging railroads > Clay, > > Greetings from Seattle. > > Your book "Dummy lines Through the Longleaf" as related to SW Missippi > is an odd title. 3. Clay, Greetings from Seattle. Your book "Dummy lines Through the Longleaf" as related to SW Missippi is an odd title. Longleaf pine is not native to SW Mississippi, but rather in SE Mississippi around Hattiesburg. Growing up in Franklin County, I never saw a longleaf tree in our area. Forest and Jones counties were abundant in longleaf. Fulton Harrigill Clay Aldridge wrote: > > I have a book called 'Dummy Lines Through the Longleaf'..
