Ms Queries Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Ms/Franklin/10841 Surname: Lee, Coleman, Linder, Erwin ------------------------- My maternal great-grandfather was Amaziah (Ham) Lee of Franklin Co., MS. His brother was Needham Lee. My father was named for Hardy Magee and, probably, a cousin named Francis (Frank) Rodriguez Wilson. My brother lives in Tyler. Please contact me. >> Hello, In my info below I have 5 men named Needham LEE and I am listing them with * ** *** **** ***** by their respective names I don't know which of the Needham LEE men was in Franklin Co., MS and it could be a different one than one of these five Needham LEE men but I would imagine that he is certainly related and I am including related information as well. I don't have a lot of information on the Needham LEE* family and what I have came to me from LEE researchers, John LEE and Clint LEE, but my 3rd great grandfather, Bailey JENNINGS, born: abt. 1789 in VA, whose parents, John JENNINGS, Sr., born: abt. 1748 in Richmond Co., VA, (have more info on parents, etc.) and Rachel JORDAN, born: abt. 1750, parents: ??, were in South Carolina during the Revolutionary War and then in Christian/Caldwell Co., Kentucky where Bailey JENNINGS married in Dec. 1811 to his 1st wife, my 3rd great grandmother, Kitty EARLE, born: bet. 1795-1808 in VA, (mother: Tabitha WILLIAMS, born: 1766, (more info on parents,) and father: Samuel EARLE, IV, (Sgt./Rev. War,) (2nd son of his father Samuel, III, to be named Samuel EARLE, IV,)born: 1760 in Town Run, Fauquier Co., VA, (mother: Elizabeth HOLBROOK, born: abt. 1733, (much younger 2nd wife of apprx. 41 years older husband,) father: (Major) Samuel EARLE, III, born: 1692, (more info on parents,) (had 1st son named Samuel EARLE, IV, born: abt. 1727, died: abt. 1752 with 1st wife, Anna SORRELL,) and (Major) Samuel EARLE, III was the 1st Member of the House of Burgesses from Frederick Co., VA holding the seat that would later be held by future President and (General) George WASHINGTON, to whom many of these families connected by blood and/or close proximity. The reason I mention all of this first is that my 3rd great grandfather, Bailey JENNINGS, who moved from Christian/Caldwell Co., Kentucky to Covington Co., MS where he was Justice of the Peace and where his daughter, my 2nd great grandmother, Sarah "Sally" JENNINGS, was born in 1821/1822, (one census says she was born in Alabama, which is where her grandparents, Tabitha WILLIAMS and Samuel EARLE, IV, born: 1760, moved to sometime after their marriage and later where they died. After the death of Kitty EARLE, Bailey JENNINGS, who moved from Covington Co., MS, I believe while Kitty EARLE was still living, to Simpson Co., MS, and married his 2nd wife, Sally LEA, (maiden name,) (who was the 1st wife and widow of William LEE, son of Needham LEE * of Simpson Co., MS.) Bailey JENNINGS, born: abt. 1789, died: bef. 1850, and Sally LEA LEE, born: ??, died: bef. 1850, (parents: ??,) had two children a son, Wiatt W. Margaret JENNINGS married James Chester TAYLOR and they were the parents of: Eugene TAYLOR Flora TAYLOR, Nancy TAYLOR Ada/Ader TAYLOR Mary TAYLOR Maggie TAYLOR. Jeremiah PARKER's whereabouts between 1795 and 1830, at this time, are unknown, (but there are definitely many PARKER's related to these connecting family groups that he probably belongs to,) and he is found in the 1830 Copiah Co., MS census with his 1st or 2nd wife and his 1st set of children, then he is also in Copiah Co., MS in the 1840 census, (don't know which wife,) and in the 1850 Smith Co., MS census with his 3rd wife, Sarah "Sally" JENNINGS, and his 2nd set of children from his 2nd wife, and then in 1870, his 3rd wife, Sarah "Sally" JENNINGS, is found as the Head of the Household, (obviously he has passed away by then,) and with her 1st set/Jeremiah's 3rd set of children which include my great grandfather, Spencer B. 3. Hello, As a member of the MSFRANK-L online discussion group, I noticed the message you posted for Barbara, with whom I have communicated in the past. I'm a descendant of John Francis Long (b. 1777 SC) and Mary K. Pickett, and I'm interested in sharing information on the Longs and the families they intermarried with. I already have considerable information on the Picketts. Do you research the Long family, or do you know someone who does? I'd appreciate any help in finding another Long researcher and/or descendant. 3. Marguerite, thanks for the Pickett genealogy. My direct ancestor is Judith King, sister of Selah. Judith was widowed before she arrived in Franklin Co. in 1807(married name Perry) with brothers Moses, Nathan, and John King. We have always thought that Pickets and Kings came together from SC. She soon married Bartlett Ford. After he died, we think she married a Mr.Watson. She outlived all of her husbands, dying "on her property" in Franklin Co. I have looked in vain for any records of her or of where she was buried. I have followed the Kings,Longs, and Pickets to Catahoula Parish. Some went out to Texas. Have you ever run across Judith King Perry Ford Watson? I descend from Judith's daughter Harriet Perry who married Zachariah T.Kirkland Would appreciate anything which anyone may be able to offer. Also, we have traced the Kings back to Michael who was born in England. Do you have anything on that line? Thought we might share info. C., Most likely you are the son of Lawrence and Mattie Stroud Smith of Franklin Co. I grew up in Eddiceton, Franklin Co. and knew this family. In fact, I visited with Mrs. Mattie a few years back when in Franklin County for our annual Lee Family Reunion. I suppose you are researching the Smith line of your family. I talked to Mrs. Mattie about her Stroud lineage since I have a Stroud connection in my grandmother, Clara Wallace Lee's line. In 1996 I published a family history, Lees and Related Families of Southwest Mississippi, but once you get started on researching your family, I don't think you can stop. Do you get back to Eddiceton often? Let me hear from you and know some of the lines you are researching. I do not have a Smith connection in my family, but perhaps there are other lines that we can share. Billy G.(Gene) Lee

    2. Barb, Sometime ago Pauline Hallett told me that Dicey may have been Stephen Middleton's second wife, and that she was married two times after he died. Apparently, she married Rev. Gabriel Pickering ca 1814-1815; and on 11 Dec 1833 she married John J. Jones. It is thought that she died ca 1842-43 and no one seems to have her maiden name. 3. Marguerite, do you have the parents of this Celia Ann? I have a SELAH King, probably of an earlier generation, who married Charles Pickett. Would like to identify your Celia to place her with her parents.
