Ms Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ms/Franklin/10884 Surname: Williams, Griffing ------------------------- Anthony- Is the 1860 census info. you refer to a census or a census map, and if a map, do the locations of the numbered residences you mention show up on the map? I would very much enjoy looking at the census info. I would like for you to see my plat also; it is very large and is a blue-line print, but perhaps I could duplicate in pieces on my copier and tape it together to send to you, if you feel like it would help you. In going through some of grandmother's info. on the Guices, I see the mention of you gg parents in the family line that she put together. Shows that Jonathan Guice, son of Jacob Guice, was born 30 March, 1823. Baptized at Mt. Carmel Church (present day Mt. Carmel cemetery is very near where I go hunting each year) in 1844 by Brother Pierce. Died in Franklin County. Married Sarah Jane Griffin in Franklin County Jan. 7, 1845. Jane Guice died June 26, 1887. My records show that Daniel Guice, who was apparently the uncle of your Jonathan Guice, married Delilah Williams, who was a sister of Electious Williams, who was my gggg grandfather, in 1810. Eelctious had moved to Miss. from Virginia, where his family lived adjacent to Mt. Vernon. My records state that delilah was a favorite of "Lady Washington" (Martha Washington). In addition, my records show that Electious Williams also married a Guice- Hannah E. Guice, who died Nov. 24, 1799, and John Clem Williams, son of Electious, married Mary Elizabeth Guice, who died Nov. 22, 1875. So, I guess we could say that we are "distant relatives."
Posted on: Franklin Co. Ms Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ms/Franklin/10883 Surname: Williams, Guice, Griffing, Mundy ------------------------- I've not seen the old plat map you mention, but I'm very interested and I have an idea that I may be able to help add some of the names to the old homesites. Pages 240 & 241 of the 1860 Franklin County census (M653) show the following families: House 27-John M. Ritchey; House 28-Asa J. Guice; House 29-John M. Griffing; House 30-Electious Williams; House 31-Edward N. Freeman...and the list goes on. John M. Griffing was a son of my ggg grandparents Jonathan Griffing and Lucinda Corban. After Lucinda's first husband died she became the wife of Littleton Mundy. After he died in 1854 she moved to Natchez to live with a daughter until she moved to Ohio with the daughter's family in 1865. The Mundy lands were turned over to her son John M. Griffing. John M. Griffing's sister, Sarah Jane, m. Jonathan M. Guice. They were my gg grandparents.
Posted on: Franklin Co. Ms Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ms/Franklin/10881 Surname: ------------------------- Thanks for your prompt reply! I have all those old papers that belonged to my Aunt Eunice and my grandmother, Myrtis Wineman, and have gone through them many times, which takes a pretty good while to do. I have an old survey plat of the division of the J. C. Williams estate in 1910 which shows the old railroad track. There also was a road shown as "public road" at that time that ran northeast from Hamburg and that is abandoned, grown over and deep in the woods at this time. The plat also shows some old housesites that are no longer there, and one that still is- I have seen it in the woods while hunting. The old cistern is still visible beside it. I would like to find other old maps of the county, and hopefully they would show names of people who lived at those housesites and the name of the public roads, etc., as well as showing whether the areas were wooded at the time or in agricultural fields. many of the old surveyors would show such things on their plats. Have you seen any such old maps of the county? Again, I appreciate you responding to my email. -Wade
Do you have any information on who the parents of Thomas Ivan were and could you share your information with me. I have some information on the children, but not the parents.

Ms Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ms/Franklin/10880 Surname: Williams, Guice ------------------------- If you could find the papers your grandmother's sister, Eunice J. Stockwell, collected over a 50 or more year period you would be an expert. She beat the bushes for Guice and Williams information everywhere and apparently was most knowledgeable. She wrote to my mother in Natchez in the early 1950s. You can tell a lot about the general area where Electious Williams lived from the USGS Roxie, MS quadmap. This map also shows the erased alignment for the old IC trackage that passed north to south through Franklin County. The Williams Cemetery is shown on this map a mile or so north of Hamburg near the old Highway 33.

I think that is really neat being a direct female descendant like that! And also unusual for the Beach family! Their were very few girls born to any of them. When my daughter married into the line last month, her in-laws were thrilled because she was bringing two granddaughters for them! They hadn't had any in that line in quite some time. Yes I have everything on computer with some paper backups. I also update and post to my WorldConnect GEDCOM often in case my computer crashes! That way I can still recover it! I found a new program called Legacy that is free on the internet and I really like it for printing data nut it is a little complicated for other things so I am still using my old one and just transferring everything to Legacy when I make changes. It has a duplicate finder that I really like. Send me what you have when you can. Hi Ann I am just beginning my research for my Beaches as well. This is my direct line. 1. Jeremiah Beach +Eunice Zeigler 2. Moses Beach +Amanda Harris 3. Isabella Beach +William Allen 4. Artie Allen +Fredrick Collin Switzer 5. Isabelle Switzer +Wallon Duart Skinner 6. Martha Skinner +Arthur Wayne Barker 7. Martha Wayne Barker (me) I am still adding in all the siblings and dates I have recently received by looking a census records, other documents or information others have sent me. I looked at The Family Search site and I believe that Amanda Harris' parents were Robert Harris and Ellen Kennedy. Once I get everything typed in I will gladly send you a GEDCom file if you are using a computer program. Thanks for the information about Amanda. I have recently learned a new term in the Geni. word that this line applies to. When it is the direct line that goes from yourself, daughter, to mother , to mother, to mother and so on, it is called the "umbilical line". Some people, I am sure, would find it a little bizarre to use that term but I think it is kind of fun. Well I have about 90 more e-mails to sort through. Bye for now. Martha W. Barker Austin Tx.

I have William B. Smith (born November 5, 1786) and his wife Frances Scott (Born April 29, 1794). William's parents were George and Mary Smith. Does anyone have any information on this family? Who were Frances' parents? I have the children from a listing in the Mississippi Bible Records. Diane Hall
According to IGI records at LDS, Moses F. Beach, son of Jeremiah and Eunice Beach, married Amanda Harris. I am currently researching the Beaches because my daughter just married one!
