My Rev. Gooch was tall and wore glasses too! I have a photograph of him with his brothers and sisters, some of whom I'd never seen until I got the photo this summer from a cousin in Indiana. Sounds like we are talking about the same person. I sure hope so, it would open a door long closed to me. Look forward to hearing from you..
My Rev. Gooch lived in Hernando and died there 10/16/1975 and according to family history left a widow Tempsey Dabney Jones, who lived in Hernando at the time of his death. I'm not sure if she is still alive. There was a wife who passed away named Gracie (maiden name unknown). Rev. Gooch had a daughter named Thelma, who married a George Gore. I have not been able to determine Thelma's mother's name yet. Please email me after you've spoken to your grandmother, it would be wonderful if we are talking about the same Rev. Gooch. Thanks a bunch
Levi W Garrett's parents were James and Lydia Garrett of Lafayette County, MS. James and Lydia are buried in the Garrett Cemetery there along with a son Henry C Garrett. Levi W Garrett was a brother of Catherine Garrett Hudson, wife of Edmond G Hudson. (My g-g-grandparents) Catherine died prior to 1849 in Desoto Co, MS. A brother, Enos Garrett was killed in the Mexican War at the battle of Buena Vista. He served in Capt. Dellay's Co. F. Another brother was Benjaman H Garrett. I think there may be sisters as well. Levi W Garrett's will was probated in Desoto County, MS

Posted on the DESOTO county genweb is the are the following publications. Clicking on each one shows a BOON or BOONE in each and every issue index. I just don't know which BOON or BOONE is featured. I am related to Nathan Bryant Boon via his son Charles Franklin Boone. Both Nathan B Boon and CF Boone had several offspring in the area. The trick is that there is a Daniel Boon in the area about the same time who also had a lot of kin of his own. I have yet to be able to connect the two (Daniel and Nathan). Until I do, I'm trying to keep these lines separate but track them both. I would appreciate any and all lookups on whichever of the following publications you may have. BOON and BOONE Thank you in advance for any info from any source. There are also the German Boon family. I am have come across several people who insist they are of Daniel;s family but when I have gone to look for a connection I have discovered that they are of the German Boon family. Listed in "Our Heritage - DeSoto County Mississippi" there is listed on page 106 Joseph Simeon Boykin Boone by Carlotte Barute. She claims a close tie to the famous Daniel Boone family. Email me privately if you are interested. Mara descendant of Sarah Boone sister to Daniel Boone.

Ms Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ms/Desoto/10427 Surname: Boon, Boone ------------------------- Have you looked at Nathan Bryant Boone of the Southern District in the 1850 De Soto County Census? (copies available). Due to family lore and my research of different Census info, I've suspected that your Hernando Daniel Boon and my Nathan Bryant Boon at least knew of each other. I suspect they are distant kin. Three different lines of Nathan's ofspring tell similar stories about being third cousin (twice removed to Daniel Boon/Boone. they always assumed it was THE Daniel Boone of the history books. I think it may be your Daniel Boon. I have more info courtesy of the Tate co Web Gen volunteer. Link: Nathan Bryant Boon to CF Boone to ... URL: <http://hometown.aol.com/boonewilkerson>
Hello, List, My g-grandfather, William F. Snider, was born in Mississippi in 1840, possibly in DeSoto County. He was the son of Jessie Snider and Mariah Fleetwood. The family only lived in Mississippi from late 1839 to 1842 or 3. Any help will be welcome. Happy diggin'! Nancy
Hi Listers This is not a commercial, really, I need your help, (and maybe you can help yourself and USGenWeb Archives ) The publishing Company below offers two pricing plans, one very expensive and one very reasonable. However when I go to the counties I am genealogically interested in, I find that few, and often zero people are on the "wait list" for that county/year (at the very reasonable price) Please check out the prices and if you think they are reasonable, I would very much appreciate it if you put your name on the wait list. S-K promises not to share your address and to allow you to change your mind before they "burn" your CD The county/years that I am interested in are: Union Co., Arkansas, 1900, 1910 Union Co., South Carolina 1810, 1820 Newberry Co., SC 1810, 1820 Lauderdale Co., ALabama 1810, 1820, 1830, 1840 Monroe Co., Mississippi 1850, 1860 Desoto Co., MS 1850, 1860, 1870 Tate Co., MS 1880, 1890 Marshall Co., MS 1870 Panola Co., MS 1870, 1880, 1890 I am including a couple of other messages to show that there is other interest in census' Thanks a bunch, "______________________________ -------------------- X-Message: #3 Date: Fri, 13 Apr 2001 11:44:05 -0500 From: "alltel" <properties@alltel.net> To: AFHA-L@rootsweb.com Message-ID: <003101c0c438$f442b900$55fd66a6@dennis> Subject: [AFHA] Arkansas census on CD's Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Can anyone tell me where I can buy the Franklin Co., AR. census 1860 ~ 1900 on CD's Thank you, Vicky ______________________________ -------------------- X-Message: #4 Date: Fri, 13 Apr 2001 18:56:42 EDT From: Hstryhntr2@aol.com To: AFHA-L@rootsweb.com Message-ID: <42.136f141d.2808de2a@aol.com> Subject: Re: [AFHA] Arkansas census on CD's Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Disposition: Inline In a message dated 4/13/01 11:33:48 AM Central Daylight Time, properties@alltel.net writes: > Can anyone tell me where I can buy the Franklin Co., AR. census 1860 ~ 1900 > on CD's > Thank you, Vicky I don't know if they have what you are looking for or not, but the best I have bought have been from S-K Publications.
