Rutland married Mary Elizabeth Chain, daughter of William and Melinda Pickering Chain, about 1845. William's sister, Susan, married Mary Elizabeth's brother, James Chain. Mary Ann Rutland, another sister, married James Dykes. A nephew, Daniel Archie Rutland, married Charity Chain, daughter of Joseph Chain and Harriet Dykes. I THINK My information is from a Rutland descendant chart and the only thing I am certain of is that several members of the Rutland, Dykes, and Chain families are buried in the Rutland cemetery a few miles from Mt.
