Hello, I am sending the following forwarded information which is just in a probing and investigative stage and HAS NOT BEEN PROVEN.....below to the DICKSON/DICKERSON/DIXON, HERRINGTON/HARRINGTON, MYRICK, BARLOW, WILKINS, WELDON, GRANTHAM, STUCKEY lists as they connect with the following information. The names of MYRICK, BARLOW and GRANTHAM married heavily into the HE(A)RRINGTON lineage even though they are not shown specifically in the information below, for those that might be reading this and wondering where it applies. And I am sending it to the county lists of COVINGTON, SIMPSON, JASPER, JONES, GREENE, and LAWRENCE as some of these various connecting families resided there. Re: Isom/Isham Daniel HE(A)RRINGTON .........Enoch HERRINGTON and Harriet(t) STUCKEY and his 1st wife: Rebecca Jane DICKSON/DICKERSON and James J. DIXSON/DICKSON and his wife: Mary WILKINS, ........William WILKINS, Catharine WELDON and daughter, Jane DICKSON I am sending you a copy of the email that I just sent to Charles DICKSON with whom I have been in contact off and on for a short while now regarding the possibility that my 2nd great grandmother, and ancestral grandmother/relative to others of you on this list, Rebecca Jane DICKSON/DICKERSON who was the 1st wife of Isom/Isham Daniel HE(A)RRINGTON, son of Harriet(t) STUCKEY and Enoch HERRINGTON. The only information that I have had about Rebecca Jane DICKSON/DICKERSON was that she was thought to have been born in abt. 1826/1827 in ??, died: 1893/4, parents: ??, and that she probably married Isom/Isham Daniel HE(A)RRINGTON after 1850 and before 1860 which is the time that is thought that her 1st son who was John Jefferson HA(E)RRINGTON was born. Unless someone shows anything conflicting, and presuming that Rebecca Jane and Isom married in abt. 1858, and that there first child was born in abt. 1860, it looks highly probable that Charles and I have found our Rebecca Jane......at least I am CERTAINLY HOPING SO! <LOL> In Charles information he shows the family tree, briefly, as follows and then I have added my comments and comparisons below that....so, please read and let me hear from you. Thanks. Sincerely, Bellinda Myrick - Barnett DICKSON/DIXSON Family Tree James J. Well, I would certainly think that it is a strong possibility that the Jane DICKSON in the file you sent could be my Rebecca Jane DICKSON/DICKERSON. The probable date of birth that I was given was abt. 1826-1827 and it appears that she didn't marry until between 1850-1860 and probably closer to 1860 as 1860 is thought to have been the approximate date of birth of her first son, John Jefferson HARRINGTON/HERRINGTON. If Rebecca Jane/Jane DICKSON married in abt. 1858 with her first child being born in abt. 1860, then, based upon the date shown for the birth of your Nancy DICKSON in 1836, her sister, Ann in 1837 and George in 1840 and James J. in 1842 and, accounting for the possibility that she was one of the middle children born in this family between the years of 1837 and 1841, as you mentioned, then she would have been between the ages of 17 - 21 years when she married which would certainly be the 'norm.' I am quite optimistic that this is my 2nd great grandmother, especially, as she is referred to in my HERRINGTON/HARRINGTON family history as "Granny Jane." I never see her mentioned as Rebecca or Rebecca Jane except in actual factual accounting in family tree information, so she may have gone more by Jane in her lifetime. And considering the matching names in my Rebecca Jane's children and comparing with those with the brothers and sisters of your Jane, I think that makes it an even stronger case, as follows, there are 5 out of 9 siblings and 9 children that are the same or are very similar names: FAMILY # 1 FAMILY # 2 Your Jane's siblings My Rebecca Jane's children Nancy DICKSON Nancy HE(A)RRINGTON John DICKSON John Jefferson HE(A)RRINGTON Susan DICKSON Susanna HE(A)RRINGTON James J. "Jim" DICKSON James Martin "Bart" HE(A)RRINGTON Elizabeth DICKSON Eliza HE(A)RRINGTON Ann DICKSON Thomas Morgan HE(A)RRINGTON George DICKSON Mary HE(A)RRINGTON Benjamin DICKSON Daniel Isom HE(A)RRINGTON Yes, it's possible that those names in two families of DICKSON's that are in Family # 1, the siblings of Jane DICKSON, and Family # 2: the children of Rebecca Jane DICKSON/DICKERSON, both of the same basic area in Mississippi during the same time frame, could just be coincidental but I really doubt it.....I think that this is her family! And I am so thrilled right now I could shout! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it and I will get in touch with some of the HERRINGTON/HARRINGTON and connecting family researchers and 'bounce' it off of them as well but they will have to do some heavy-duty arguing to get me thinking otherwise. Thanks so very much for studying that information even more closely and finding Jane DICKSON just waiting there somewhere between 1837 - 1841. Now, obviously, if someone has some type of argument or evidence that she and Isom were married before a possible timeframe that could knock the wind out of my sails but, hopefully, this is she and maybe something else out there will surface now to corroborate this. Thanks, again. Talk to you shortly. Oh, and, before I forget, have you been able to find out the names of James J. DIXSON/DICKSON's parents yet and/or where he was from in and/or before Georgia in 1805? Also, the same with Mary WILKIN's parents: William WILKINS and Catharine WELDON? That might also provide some more connecting evidence to these other families as well. Were the children of James and Mary WILKINS DICKSON/DIXSON born in Greene Co., MS or Covington Co., MS? Talk to you shortly. Bellinda In a message dated 01-03-28 12:12:04 EST, you write: << Subj: Re: [MSCOVING-L] Dickson Family Bellinda, I am sending you my Dickson file. I am sending it in a Word doc. It begins with James J. Dickson (Dixson) Sr. In his family, probably born about 1837-1841 is # v. Jane Dickson. Could this be your Rebecca Jane? Hope this helps. Charles Dickson >> >>
