Ms Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ms/Covington/949 Surname: Rutland, Stewart, Dykes, Chain, Bullock ------------------------- Hi, I have a descendant chart which shows Jane Stewart to be a daughter of Asa Rutland, but I believe this is wrong, because Asa Rutland was b about 1790 and the 1850 Covington Co Census shows Jane to be 50. I think she may have been a sister to Asa, but have not been able to prove it. The John Rutland living in the house with Jane in 1850 is shown as a son of Asa's, but I don't know if this is correct or not. Asa is quite elusive. He served in Nixon's Regt, MS Militia, War of 1812 and married Catherine Pendaris in Marion Co, 1814. Otherwise, he can't be found. He reportedly was b in SC about 1790. It is believed Asa moved to La shortly after his marriage and several of his children are reported to have been born there. Connecting names are Dykes, Chains, Bullocks (my line). Will exchange information, sketchy as it is. Loretta
