RUTLAND'S parents were William RUTLAND b. abt. 1819-1821 in LA d. abt 1845 and Mary Elizabeth CHAIN b. abt. 1830 in MS d. abt. 1910. They married abt. 1845 and lived in the Covington Co. area. Some believe William's middle name was Quitman, but I haven't been able to prove it; however, several of his descendants have that name. Also some records show his middle name to begin with a "R." so I'm still not sure what it was. William's parents were Asa RUTLAND b. abt. 1795 in S.C. d. 1850 m.Nov. 9, 1814 in Columbia, Marion, MS to Catherine PENDARVIS b. abt. 1795
