In COVINGTON COUNTY CROSSROADS by Gwen Hitt p.19 under Mt Olive "notables" list flying ace Eddie Russell. Since my mother remembers a Eddie and Edwina (brother and sister) living in downtown MT Olive. I guess Eddie the war hero must be from the same family. My mother was born in 1927 but lived in downtown MT Olive only about two years when growing up. Another lady about 80 remembers the whole school turned out when Mr Russell died and that they walked to his house for the funeral. She also said the family came to the area when they started cutting timber and did not know anything else about them. I beleive the Dickson family living in Mt Olive now are related to the wife.
