Ms Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ms/Covington/905 Surname: DYKES, RUTLAND, GRAVES ------------------------- Loretta,I just got back online myself.Had a computer virus and had to do quickrestore.Anyway,I don't have my files re-installed yet.It will be tomorrow.William R. is the oldest I have, too.I thought I had something on the Mary Ann's parents or siblings, but it's info you had given,so...ha I don't know if that James C. Dykes is related or not.If I'm right, his parents were Jacob H. and Sarah E. Dykes. They are in the 1850 Covington Co.census, too with their 9 kids.James C.is listed as the oldest,14;Harriet,13;Melinda,11;Arid J.(male),9;Lev--y (?)7;Cinderella,5;Samantha,4;Sarintha,2;and Levanda,3&1/2.Jacob and Sarah were born in La. and all of the kids in Ms.I think, this is just me,of course, that Jacob and my James are brothers. There is only 4 yrs diff.,they were both born in La.,they lived in Cov.Co.at the same time and I found them not to far apart in the census, which would mean they lived fairly close to each other.I think James C. married Jemina Chain. The battle took place about 10-20 yrs later, which would put him at the right age.I just finished the book and copied alot of it but it's on a floppy.I read in the book that there are no dates on his grave. Some of my family is hoping to come down that way this spring. We want to look at different ceme.'s,etc.. where our Hintons,Andrews, and Dykes are buried.Don't know yet;it's according to the health of my parents and aunts.I'll keep my eyes open for Rutlands, but they are few and far between.ha.Later,Dawn
