Lynda, I know both Shirley and Joyce. I'll give Shirley a call and see what she has to say. I have talked to a few local people and gotten a warm reponse. I hope the "locals" will be as enthusicastic as people out of state have been. I think with the CS library remodeling and enlarging, this would be an excellent opportunity to begin genealogical resources started there. I recently attended Historical Society meetings at Carthage and at Forest. Both were held in the local libraries and they had such impressive collections of hard copies and CD's for genealogical research. Also, such much work needs to be done in Copiah County on updating cemetery records and working with the newspapers and court house officials to transcribe records to make them more easily accessible as well as to insure their preservation. So, with the holiday season upon us, it may be early next year before things get started. I need to locate some enthusiastic people here and schedule an organizational meeting and move on from there. Thank you for your encouragement and support. Dan
Dan, I don't know what I can do from a distance, but I could help with some records if I had them. I also have the capability to create CDs. I've relied a great deal on others and if I can pay that back, I'd be glad to do so.
