    1. ELLZEY Family post from Kathryn
    2. Dear Kathryn, Hello. It is quite probable that our ELLZEY families connect due to several things I see right off. First, the obvious surname of ELLZEY, <LOL>, and then the fact that your ELLZEY family and my PARKER family that married into the LEWIS - ELLZEY family were both located in Copiah County, Mississippi in the 1830 and 1840 census with the emergence of my 2nd great grandfather, Jeremiah "Jerry" PARKER, born: 1795 in Maryland, (it is possible that it was a part of Maryland that was or is Virginia.) In the 1840 Copiah Co., MS census I don't know whether he is shown with his 1st, 2nd or 3rd wife as I haven't seen that census just heard of it. In the 1830 Copiah Co., MS census he is found with either his 1st or 2nd wife and his 1st set of children, names unknown, and then in the 1850 Smith County Census he is found with his 3rd wife, my 2nd great grandmother, Sarah "Sally" JENNINGS, and her stepchildren/Jerry's 2nd set of children, names not mentioned in the census but I have them in my files, that were the children of 2nd wife. Then in the 1870 Rankin Co., MS census Sarah "Sally" JENNINGS is found as the head of the household with the 3rd set of children for Jeremiah "Jerry" PARKER and the natural children of his 3rd wife, Sarah "Sally" JENNINGS. This group of children is named in the census and matches up with my information. The LEWIS and ELLZEY family were in Jones County, Mississippi from the early 1820's past the early 1850's when my great grandmother, Rachael Moranda/Maranda "Randa/Randy" LEWIS, born: abt. 1851 in Jones Co., MS, aka Moranda/Maranda COLEMAN at the time she married her first known husband, Wesley BRIGHT, and then later when she married her 2nd/3rd husband, my great grandfather, Spencer B. PARKER, born: 1859 in either Smith or Rankin Co., MS, son of Sarah "Sally" JENNINGS, born: 1821/22 in Covington Co., MS, (one census shows her being born in Alabama,) daughter of Kitty EARLE, born: abt. 1795 in VA, and Bailey JENNINGS, born: abt. 1789 in VA, and his 2nd wife was Mrs. Sally LEA LEE, (maiden name LEA and widow of William LEE, son of Needham LEE of Simpson Co., MS.) The aforementioned Rachael Moranda/Maranda "Randa/Randy" LEWIS (COLEMAN) (BRIGHT) (PARKER,) born: abt. 1851 in Jones Co., MS was the daughter of John LEWIS, born: abt. 1820 in Jones Co., MS, (son of Nancy COPELAND, (daughter of Rachael TUCKER and Ripley COPELAND,) and Howell LEWIS, born: bet. 1782-1788 in Granville Co., NC, (still trying to discern his parents but he greatly appears to be descended from Mary HOWELL and (Colonel) Charles Lilburne (Of the Byrd) LEWIS whose families were in Goochland Co., VA and then migrated into Granville Co., NC,) and John LEWIS's wife, Harriett ELLZEY, born: abt. 1824, (daughter of Evan ELLZEY and his wife whom is thought to be Mary COLLINS.) In the JENNINGS family is a sister of the aforementioned Bailey JENNINGS who is named Theodocia "Docia" JENNINGS. Don't know that there is any connection with that but another little possibly connecting feature. Still looking for more information about Evan ELLZEY's parents and ancestors but I do have other ELLZEY information. The aforementioned Spencer B. PARKER and Rachael Moranda LEWIS (COLEMAN) (BRIGHT) (PARKER) were the parents of my grandmother, Allie Artimissa PARKER, born: 1892 in Simpson Co., MS, who married James Martin "Jim" MYRICK, born: 1892 in Simpson Co., MS. I look forward to hearing from you if you think that there may be any connections between our family lines. Sincerely, Bellinda Myrick - Barnett BandB4951@aol.com In a message dated 01-06-18 13:30:34 EDT, you write: << Subj: Information Request Date: 01-06-18 13:30:34 EDT From: anniecarriemontgomery@yahoo.com (K. I'm looking for information about the Copiah branch of my family. My great grandparents lived in Copiah County (Wesson) from at least 1894 but probably much further back and may even have been born there. They left after their home was destroyed by fire and they lost a daughter (Nettie) in the fire but they only moved to Brookhaven in neighboring Lincoln County. Info I have: Mary Theodocia (Docia) Ellzey/Ellzy married ? Thompson. They had many children including: Troy Thompson, Sr. (my grandfather), married Kathryn Elizabeth Nina Balfour and had two sons Troy, Jr. (my father) and James Edmund, both born in Brookhaven, Lincoln County, 1921 and 1928 respectively His twin brother Roy, born Abt. 1894, married someone called (I believe) "Pink" Eddie Estelle Thompson, married Benton Cain Elizabeth (Bessie) Thompson, never married Nettie Thompson I believe there were more children but I'm not sure. Any information on any of the family would be appreciated. My father remembers his grandmother in particular but only stories, not names and facts! Thank you, Kathryn Thompson >>
