    1. [MSCOPIAH-L] Re: Hawkins, McBride families
    2. Carol Mobley
    3. I am researching the Hawkins, McBride, Templeton, Brown, Martin, & Owens of Copiah and Hinds Counties. There may be a connection to the S. K. Hawkins Plantation in 1820 where Barlow now stands. I am told there are still living relatives in Crystal Springs. Is there anyone on this list who knows of the Selman Hawkins family. Selman is listed in the 1910 census records for Copiah Co., MS. b. 1865. There was no wife (she may be a Martin) in the household listed but children are: Eugene age 16, Quitman age 14, Albert Brown age11, Mathew age 8, and Ida age 5. In the 1900 census there is a listing for Thomas J. Hawkins m. Amanda J. Nealy, with one child listed as Selman. Not sure if this is the same Selman as in the 1910 census. Albert Brown Hawkins is my grandfather he married Ruth Beatrice McBride in 1916 -1917 in Copiah Co. Ruth's father is Nelson Vance McBride, mother is Anna Owens. Nelson was at one time a Baptist minister possibly in Wesson. Albert was born I believe in Martinsville and is buried in It at the Spring Hill Cemetery in an unmarked grave. Albert and Ruth's children are, Fred Jerome, Nelson Vance, Doris Rosalie, & James Claude. They moved to Natchez later on. Doris was born in Wesson. Ruth had a twin sister who died at an early age from a choking accident, she had another sister Eula who married Jessie Elbert Templeton of Jack, Copiah Co. Ruth & her twin were born 1902 in Wesson, Eula was born in 1904, Jackson, Hinds Co. If anyone on this list is researching any of these families I could use some help, there are many of gaps in my information and perhaps we could compare notes. TIA Carol Mobley
