    2. Hi Larry I live in Copiah County and if you get to Hazlehurst, you will have no problem finding the Courthouse. It's in the center of town at Court House Square. The Chancery Clerk is Steve Amos (phone 601-894-3021) and the Circuit Clerk is Edna Sue Stevens (phone 601-894-1241). The Hazlehurst Library has limited genealogical resources. The name is George . Covington Memorial Library at 223 South Extension Street (phone 601-894-1681). Since you are going to be in the area, I would advise a trip to the Mississippi State Archives in Jackson at 100 South State Street next to the Old Capitol Museum. Their phone number is 601-359-6850. In Volume 1 of Cemetery and Bible Records by the Mississippi Genealogical Society, I found these Copiah County Gilberts: Clarence A., G. T., Harriet A., James Owen, and Nora O. Tadlock. Let me know if you need additional information on any of these. (There is a copy of this book at the State Archives). There is not a Historical Society in the county. We sure need one. I am considering seeing how much interest there is in getting one started. I hope this information helps. Let me know if I can help further. Good Luck Dan Johnson

    3. Dan, Do you know if there is a listing of the Gallman Cemetery? I've got lots of O'Neal relatives buried there and would like something like the Old Hazlehurst listing or the Pine Bluff Church listing. Any help would be appreciate. 3. yes they have one in hazlehurst and crystal springs, but the one in crystal springs right now is in shambles because they are moving also the one in hazlehurst is also great, they can only help you with what they have and there is much information at the courthouse, but the DAR is doing more and more work, to bring geneology in Copiah county more accessable Lynda Lindsey At 01:08 PM 11/15/2000 EST, LHill42731@aol.com wrote: >I don't mean to be vague here, but I did want to say that I wrote the library >(can't find address now) about a year ago, and a wonderful lady looked up >things for me and sent. 3. the court house is having some records redone, and they are remoddling again, I believe I read that, the library most likely doesnt have much, we do have an address where you can write to the copiah county library. There are not a whole lot of places to stay the night, Brook haven has a Hampton Inn, There are quite a few cemetarys online, I wish you good luck, I grew up in Crystal Springs, and even tho we are in alabama my husband still has family there. 3. Hi - I am from CA also but one source you should check our before you go is web site "http://www.rootsweb.com/~mscopiah/". It lists many of the cemeteries and there are many! The Court house is in Hazelhurst but I am not sure of the address. When I was there a Mississippi cousin was driving. 1. [MSCOPIAH-L] Samuel and Eugenia Vincent? 1880s Copiah County, Mississippi
    2. I am trying a long shot here. I am looking for the parents of Carrie F. Vinson born September 29, 1880 in Mississippi and Eugene Vinson born September 20, 1882. On my computer I have entered the parents as Samuel Vinson and Eugenia Miller. I do not remember when and where I got that information. I am looking for proof. I have searched the Census records and find a Samuel and Eugenia Vincent listed in Copiah County, Mississippi in 1880. I do not find any other Vinson or Vincent located there. Carrie F. Vinson marries a D. Birt Sims. They live in Pope County, Arkansas and then in Yell County, Arkansas. Eugene is living with Carrie and Birt Sims in 1900 and then with the family of his future wife in Yell County 1910. He dies in 1916. He is listened as single in 1900 and widower in 1910. I have been unable to locate a death certificate so far. I find a Samuel L. Vinson in 1900 in Pulaski County, Arkansas married to an Elizabeth. I have reason to believe that this is the same Samuel with a different wife. That would make Eugenia as having died around 1883. Does anyone have access to Marriage Records who can find out if I am on the right track or cemetery records that would show grave of Eugenia Vinson? Thank you.
