    2. Hi, Billy My great uncles were in the Civil War and had ties to Clarke Co, MS Rufus Charles Gavin (Reverend) b. 4 April 1845 in Meridian, MS d. 20 Nov 1927 in Quitman, MS. He enlisted 13 Mar 1862 in Capt S.H. Terral's Co, 37th Reg't Volunteers which subsequently became Co C, 37th Regt, MS Infantry. He enlisted in Quitman, MS by his uncle, Martin L Moody, age 17 years. This Company was part of the garrison of Vicksburg which surrendered on 4 July 1863. He was paroled at Vicksburg MS July 4, 1863. Went on to fight in other battles. He is buried at Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Alabama. David C. Gavin, Sgt, (New) Co G, 13th Reg't MS Volunteers April 27, 1861 in Quitman Ms. He was wounded at Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, and Spotsylvania. He was born 7 May 1841 and died 27 January 1923. Buried at Oddfellows Cemetery, Quitman, MS.
