My ancestor, George McLemore, ( from one of the other families that are not found on the 1870 census) enlisted in Colombus, MS because that was where some of the Clarke Co. men had already gone with this particular unit. It was Turner’s Battery- Lt.Artillary(Chickasawhay Desperadoes) MS. When the war was over, they were paroled to Citronelle. Maybe Woodard was in one of those units that was paroled there, and his wife went to be with him. Maybe he was injured and died there, and she just stayed. Good luck in your research.
