Jasper P. Brown Scrimpshire, born 1841, enlisted at Quitman, Clarke Co., MS as Pvt., Co. E, 7 Batt'n Mississippi Vols. (Capt. S. C. Pearson's Company, Lieut. Col. J. S.Terrel's Battalion, Mississippi Volunteers.) Jasper was captured at Nashville on 14 December 1864, moved to Louisville, and then to Camp Chase on 6 January 1865. Jasper died of pneumonia at Camp Chase, OH on 26 January 1865, and is one of 2260 Confederates buried there. His grave is #889. He was the son of William B. Scrimshire and Sarah Duckworth Scrimshire.
