    1. Re: GRAYSON INFO.......
    2. Jean, Thanks for your reply! Yes, the Graysons and Moores are intermarried, along with the Carters! That's what happens when you stay in one area for over 100 years! I have just started digging into the Crosby stuff, especially now that I know our James C. Grayson's father Cameron was married to a Crosby family member. I have to leave for a few hours, but in the interim I will tell you one of those small world things about those Crosbys! I live in Belton, Texas (Bell County). I had been digging in the Crosby roots, when I came across a gentleman that was looking for a JAMES A. CROSBY that was from Clarke County, MS and buried in Belton! Sure enough, there he was.....Front row of the North Belton Cemetery, facing Main Street. James A. Crosby Company F 2nd Reg Inf. CSA ` Oct. 29, 1891 Father of William J. Allen, MD Setp 18, 1869 - Aug 4, 1908 My husband (whose family this Grayson bunch belongs to) didn't move to Belton until 1997 when he married me! And then, lo and behold there are those Crosbys.....they beat him here! Is that small world or what! I'll see what other Crosby info I have when I return! In the mean time, check out my notes at: http://hometown.aol.com/mgrayson98/page4/graysonnotes.htm Marion In a message dated 9/21/00 2:45:38 PM Central Daylight Time, jsilver@texasonline.net writes: << Marion, I have been following the discussion about the Graysons and the Crosbys. My interest in the Graysons is that they married some of Isaac Moore's descendants. I. Henry Moore's daughter, Lizzie, married a William Grayson. Missouri Belle Moore (dau of Owen Moore) was married to Jack Grayson. The part that really drew my interest is the Crosby connection. In the old Moore Cemetery, there is a Mary Crosby, "70 yrs old" who died in 1910. The headstone was not visible when I visited there in 1992 or 93. In the 1910 census for Clarke Co, there was a W. W. Crosby age 60 and wife Mary Crosby age 70. With them is a Martha Moore age 50 (white) who was listed as a servant. In 1880, there was a W. M. Crosby (age unclear in my notes/ looks like 32) M.A. Crosby. He was born in MS and she in AL. There are 5 children listed. Do you have any knowlege of these Crosbys? I have put out queries in the Clarke Co. Tribune and have asked questions galore about the Moore Cemetery and those who are buried there. Nobody seems to have any knowlege of any of this.
