    2. Jean, The only reason I suggested the ones I did....is that I host one on each and know what levels of "control" you can have on each site......and you always know who can access the info. Or you can "bump" someone off the list if they are irresponsible. We have an archive of old queries, databases we have created (links to web pages, lists of books pertaining to what we are researching and where to buy them, transcriptions of documents we personally requested and received from Spain, a history timeline compiled by a member, etc.) I just got tired of doing lookups ALL the time - this way I put the resouces at their fingertips 24 and 7. There is no "perfect solution". Obviously Benny has devoted himself to helping others and it's a shame that someone took advantage of that kindness and devotion. I talked with my Network Admin. husband and there is a way "lock" the info on the pages - like on genforum...when you go to the submitter's email - you can't cut and paste the address into your email box...you have to type the info in. (I know - I have mis-typed several and had the mail bounce back) If Benny "locked" the pages......if anyone wanted the info that bad, they would have to type each and every word themselves. Someone would have to be awful persistant to go to that length to "steal" his work. Genforum does it that way, so that no one can steal our email addresses off the site for spam and other junk mail lists. I don't know how to do it....but can find out how to do it. Beverly Researching the following lines: BIALI/BIALE, BORDELON, BREWER, BRUNELLE, CARBO, EDMONDSON, ETHERIDGE, LABORDE, LANDRY, LEEBURG, MASCARO, NORMAND/LENORMAND, PONS, ROBERTS, ROTJER, SHOEMAKE, TALTAVULL, TERRAL/TERRELL, WHATLEY ,WHITTINGTON, LOWE, HYATT.

    2. Like Jean and Benny....I have been there too. Was contacted by a Terral Descendant - we exchanged material - couldn't connect and 1 week later, MY original file....not one thing changed, appeared on a Louisiana Parish - USGenweb site, with his name on it! Luckily, I have corresponded frequently with the Parish coordinator - and I had proof of original emails of where I received the info from, and when....and she removed the file. I suggested that in the future that when someone submits a file, that she ask for a statement from the submitter that this is THEIR work, or that they have permission of the person who DID the work before the info can be posted. I don't know if she instituted this.....but it made me Sick when I saw that file!!!! I was SO upset......that submitter is still emailing me....and I don't respond.....bet he has NO clue as to why I won't answer his emails! The nerve of some people! As to options, the site with a password works on several I have seen - that way the site owner can track who has "been to the site" - I for one can't afford any more "paid sites" - with taking in the step-daughter and her baby and taking on her car note (we still have 3 kids of our own at home!) we are totally tapped out. It's a shame to lose this wonderful resource, but I totally understand. Would probably do the same thing if this happened to me with a web page. I am more careful and make stipulations now when I send a file - it's a pain, but I don't want the same thing to happen again. There are also the sites on MyFamily.com - totally private - only the people you send an invitation and password can view the info. I have one going for my Mother-in-laws family...and am a member of two more (they verified I had a "connection"). E-groups.com also has this feature - I host a Menorca, Spain forum there. With the private sites, people are a little more free to share info, and contact info as they know that their info is NOT available to the general internet population. After all the time Benny has spent creating all the pages - it's a shame to let all that go to waste. Don't know the "best solution"......just wanting to give some info on the "password" sites that Jean made reference to for any who hasn't been to one and vent my frustrations of a similiar situation! Thanks for letting me vent! Beverly

    3. Beverly, I think one of these e-groups was the source that Benny was referring where someone cut and pasted his census records. I have received notices from mailing lists recently that were warning people that this type thing was happening. 3. Dear Bennie: I am so sorry that you have to take this action. If it were not for your page I would not have found very important family data which has led me to order more FHC film and pursue family names on every document filmed. You have been so generous with your work, time and energy and I feel like a stone has been placed in my heart with this news. Will you continue to publish donated family lineages? Can we still donate these to you along with other material we have to share to your Clarke Co. webpage? Yours is the best in MS. I hope that you will retain my name, email address and home address in your files and keep in touch. If I ever get to visit Clarke county I want to visit with you. Please let us know of your publications. I can understand your feelings in this matter. I am self publishing in soft cover form three books of compiled records and would be very upset if someone were to copy all the work I have done and claim it as their own. Until others begin to write books they will not understand the grinding hours of research, typing, proofing, planning of format and the costs and computer crashes that we have to deal with to publish. This is all a bad dream. Your Friend, Poldi in Dallas, Texas. Families: Langford/Lankford, Davis, McCann, Creel, Newsom, Dearman, Lott, Ball, McInnis, Ulmer, Pittman, Palmer, Mills. 3. Bennie, I am so sorry this thing has happened to make you feel you must remove the information from you website. It has helped so many people who have searched long and hard for their ancestry. This is surely a devasting blow; but on the other hand I can see your point and don't begrudge you your decision. Thank you for your time and effort. 2. I understand Bennie's reasons for his actions. I'm sure I would feel the same way. I live in Texas, and the information that Bennie has provided me is invaluable. I have searched Texas libraries, and cannot find the info that he had on his site. I for one, would be willing to pay subscription fee to Bennie's site, if that is something he would consider. Would anyone else be interested in such an arrangement? Marion in Texas

I, too, want to be added to your list of book purchasers if you do decide to publish. Many, many thanks, Gerry
