    2. Bennie, God Bless you! I know your dilema...........and none of us can blame you! But can I tell you how EXCITED I am!?! You are the best! (If you don't believe me, just read these posts and the ones on other boards that give you accolades all the time!) Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Marion in Texas :) In a message dated 9/24/00 10:23:21 AM Central Daylight Time, bennie@netpathway.com writes: << I've reluctantly decided to begin re-posting some of the data I had removed earlier. This first re-posting is several of the cemeteries. I added a new statement at the top of each page (not a cure, but maybe a deterrent). Might take a while to get everything back on--I'm going to add the statement to every page I post (of my own work). If any of you have submitted compiled data that you want the statement to be added, let me know and I'll take care of it. I am truly appreciative of all the support all of you have shown during my "crisis." You folks are the main reason I have decided to somehow get the Clarke stuff back on. Bennie >>

    3. There will be a place for Soldiers that are buried in other areas, also memorial markers but They must be from Clarke Co. MS. This is going to be a big project and I believe a good source of information. So send what you can. Appreciate Bennie for letting us use his web site. Billy

    3. Poldi, Your Sarah J. Carter who married Jesse Lankford--was she the daughter of Allen A. Carter and Sarah McLemore Carter? I have seen this marriage before and wondered if this was my Sarah McLemore? If so, do you know anything about where Allen and Sarah Carter are buried in Texas? By the way, to all those on the list, it is great to see so much activity lately. I appreciate Benny, Billy, and all who are so helpful. 3. Hello Billy and Bennie: My greatuncle Jesse Lankford who served as 2nd Lt. MS 8th Inf. Co. F. born 15 April 1832, died 25 January 1879 is buried in the Masonic Cemetery in Gainsville, Coryell Co. Texas. I think you only wanted the data for Civil War veterans buried in Clarke Co. but since the family lived there prior to 1840 I thought I might just pass on the info. Maybe one of his descendants would like to know where he is buried, etc. On the 1880 census it shows that he was the Sheriff of Clarke Co. He was married (1) Sarah J. Carter and (2) Mary Ann Phillips, a widow. His only child by Sarah, Ida married Absalom Calhoun Ulmer and they raised many children, all the sons carrying Lankford as a middle name. I am in contact with their granddaughter who now lives in Williamsburg, VA. Jesse's parents were Daniel Lankford and Lavisa Lott. Hope this is of benefit to other researchers. Poldi Tonin PS: I also have a photo of his marker. Billy & Nell Beckman wrote: > I want to thank everyone that is sending me information on their Civil > War Soldiers. The records will be put under Civil War in a place of Honor, which they deserve. It will take some time to do this, but it will be done. Thanks Billy
