    3. I don't have a copy of the book. Information was sent to me out of it. When they were working on the Historic Clarke Co. Book in 1996, Mrs. Dansby had a copy. she called it " Records of Clarke County Miss. , WPA Source Marerials " published by Jean Strickland and Patricia Edwards. Jean Strickland lived around MossPoint, MS. when she died. I believe that she had most of the Mississippi counties done thru. probably in one book. I had a cousin that sent me information about the tax list of 1866. I will try to get more info. Billy

    3. Just a note to let you guys know that the Dallas Public Library has the tax lists on microfilm. Also the censuses, including a few local censuses, and best of all the Civil War Pension applications. Very few books though and no newspapers on microfilm. In fact is someone can tell me where to buy Clarke, Greene, Wayne and Jones Co newspapers on microfilm I would appreciate it very much. Need them desperately!!! Thanks to all. 3. There was a tax list published in 1866. In a book by Jean Strickland. The book has a lot of information about Clarke Co. You will have to check at the libraries to read it. As far as I know it is out of print now. Mrs. Strickland died about two years ago. Billy

    3. Billy, You may be right about 7th vs.8th as I was pulling that from memory. Anyway I appreciate your prompt response. As far as John H. is concerned, his headstone indeed indicates he was a confederate soldier. However, I have no other source of verification for this. The headstone is in good shape and readable. Please add him to your list.
