With information gleaned from your website my mother has finally met her brother who was separated at birth. A week before James's birthday, 63 long years later, he and mother finally found the person that they had longed to meet. When they embraced each other, Mother said that she finally felt whole again. They are the children of Claudie TAYLOR PACE (Johnnie J PACE). Edd TAYLOR and Janie HERRING were Claudie's parents and they were from Mace TAYLOR and Liddie Ann SNIDER and Shepard B HERRING and Sarah Tissilso WATTS. So when you feel down and unappreciated,,just know that you will always be in our hearts and prayers. I have been off the net for 4 weeks and was shocked to read that someone else was laying claim to your hard work. We are now searching for their half sisters - Carolyn Lucille md (Joseph Lamar SMITH Aug 28 1966 in Macon, GA), Ruth Claudie md (James Edwin FOX27 Dec 1965 Macon GA) Sarah Anne FENNELL - Daughters of Lewis FENNELL of Warner Robins GA.     3. We appreciate Bennie for letting us put our Confederate ancesters on his web site. There will be some more Confedeate Soldiers added when their service information is sent to Bennie or me. I have some information on some of the Soldiers families that I did not include. Also you can check with the person that sent in information. I know there are many Confederate Soldiers that we missed, so maybe some one will send in more information. Thanks Billy

John not on 1850 census however was on 1848, 1851 and 1852 tax lists. Another John Carmichael m. 24 Feb 1857 to Levicy Petty was on 1850 census. Any relationship between the three men? My ancestor, Margaret Carmichael m. James Stapleton 1856 and is presumed to be daughter of Archibald and sister of John m. 1857 (James' father bonded for this marriage) but.... Any help appreciated

    3. Thanks, Honey. Yes, I had found him in the 1850 census there, but he doesn't seem to appear in the 1860 census for that county. Then he reappears in the 1866 state census for MS living in Clarke Co. near his in-laws the Coopers. He died in 1869, but I've been unable to locate where he went between 1866 and 1869, so can't find his burial place. Appreciate it--- Leslie Hill

    3. I went to USGENWEB.COM, Alabama, Then Choctaw Co., AL, Census and found the following: Name, Age, Sex, Place of Birth, Page No 1850 Census Choctaw Co, Al Index Darwin, P. G., 26, M, Mechanic, Tenn, #160 Hope this helps. Honey

    3. It's hard to say. My only recommendation would be to check all the books from around this area. Of course, elusive relatives may not be in any of them, but one has to check it out.     3. I have heard that the Clayton library in Houston is fabulous. I wish I were closer, about 175 miles from there. Live WAY out in the country, and closest town has 10,000 people. I believe my cousin Rodney said he checked one resource, not sure which one, and couldn't find any Darwin listed. This Darwin had lived across the state line in Choctaw CoAL and owned land there, so he could have gone back there between 1866 & 1869. If you run across the name Darwin in anything, sure would appreciate you letting me know. He was the only one with that surname in the area. Leslie Hill

    3. Michael: If you do go within that time period, could you please lookup a Pendleton Gaines Darwin for 1869 in Clarke or Lauderdale Co? That is, if that year existed. I believe the 1866 year is listed, and that would be the next best thing. The surname has been misspelled frequently such as Dorwin, Durvin, Darvin, and even Daring. Thank you for any help.     3. A tax list was published in Sumter Co in 1850. USGENWEB usually has the tax lists by State. Bennie supplied a website http://www.ancestry.com/search/locality/main.htm that may have it, but I have not checked it out yet. Good Luck Honey

    3. Leslie Hill, Your cousin Rodney Waltman has a copy of Jean Strickland book. He is going to let me see it tomorrow. He will do look ups for you. Now Clarke Co. List. Jean Strickland had a lot of books. Different Counties in Mississippi. (1) The records of Clarke Co. MS, WPA source has deeds --abstracts 1834 to 1854. Her first Book -- Records of Southeast Miss. Book 1 has tax list and a lot of history. I believe now that you can still get these books. Check with Ben Strickland--P.O. Box 5147 -- MossPoint, MS. 39563. Also I understand many Libraries carry her books. Billy
