Patricia, I am very interested in your Stapleton-White marriage. Do you know if the Catherine L. White was from Clarke? Was the DL White living in Clarke? My grandfather was Dee (Thomas Deedie) White. He had sister, Lucy, b. ca 1864, who married Joseph P. Schrimpshire. I have often wondered if Lucy was first married to a Stapleton, since the only marriage record I have been able to find in Clarke Co. which fit the time frame was the J. P. Schrimpshire-Mrs. C. L. Stapleton marriage (I also have copy). The age you gave for Catherine fits exactly for my Lucy's age. I wonder if Lucy eloped with Columbus, married in Jasper Co., then came back to Clarke? This sounds very promising! What is your time frame? My Columbus Stapleton of Clarke Co m. 1880 in Jasper Co to Catherine L. White, age 14. She obtained divorce 1884 Clarke - she related to DL White. Shortly after divorce Catherine Stapleton married a Schrimpshire. I think he testified in the divorce (desertion on Stapleton's part). If this rings any bells I'll dig a little further - I think I have record of Schrimpshire marriage.
