Shelton, married Zilphey Corbin in Carroll Co., MS in 12/1835. He lived in Carroll Co. until around 1848 when he either died or moved to Arkansas. Zilphey was probably the daughter of William B. Corbin, b c. 1798. My gg-grandfather, Lewis Shelton, was listed on the 1850 Carroll Co. census as living with William Corbin. He was 14 years old at the time. He later moved to Arkansas. I have a second connection to Carroll Co.--my great-grandmother, Mary Ella Kindred (later Bryant) was born there around 1860 (I say around because she would never tell anyone her true age, but was over 100 when she died in 1963). Her family later moved to Limestone Co., TX in the 1870's. Lewis Shelton moved to TX in 1860 where he lived with an uncle, Lewis B. Shelton. Drury was the son of Taliaferro and Jane Irby Shelton who were married in Pittsylvania Co., VA and lived in SC, GA, and Blount Co., AL. The lineage goes back to Ralph and Mary Crispen Shelton in VA! . Let me know if you see any connection.
