One of his sons was Jams Dunalp Pate (married Ellen E.). One of their children was Maude N. (?) Pate, who married Dr. Benjamin F. Kittrell. Dr. Kittrell and my great grandfather J.L.C. Pate both served in the Black Hawk Rifles. There is a Sketch" of the Black Hawk Rifles on "Dixie Boys" site, telling about their experiences. They were in the 22nd MS, Company 'G'. Eleanor E. Kittrell's first husband was Dr. John Shivers and her second was Benjamin R. Clark, according to what I have pieced together. Many persons were named after close family or friends. My father's half-brother was named Kittrell Pate and lived near Caddo, OK in his adult life, after the family moved ther from Carroll County. That's probably enough for now. Hope it helps. Will be glad to hear from you. Dan Pate
