    2. J. L. WOOD
    3. Hello Janet, Although I have extensive information on my WOOD line from my g-grandfather, Jesse Lee WOOD, on down, I have never been able to make a direct connection to Charles and Rosa WOOD. I feel certain that there has to be a connection because there are just too many coincidences, although I guess I've just about given up. MacArthur LEWIS and the late Jack W. WOOD (who was in much the same situation) among others have tried to help. The Jesse L. WOOD b. 1802 in NC s/o of Charles & Rosa WOOD does not appear to be connected to my line. I thought that the Jesse Lee WOOD b. 1833 s/o William WOOD & Elizabeth "Bess" ESSARY might be my g-grandfather. However, after researching and identifying that whole line, I determined that even though he was in the 7th TN Cavalry Reg., there were actually two different individuals with the same name, Jesse Lee WOOD. I was able to obtain the complete military records for both to prove this. My G-grandfather, Rev./Dr. Jesse Lee WOOD was reportedly b. 1839 in Duck Hill, Carroll/Montgomery Co., MS but doesn't show up anywhere until age 21 yrs. in the 1860 Census in rural Dyer Co., TN. Nothing is known about how or when Jesse came to West TN or about his parents/siblings other than he claimed to have had three brothers (names unknown) that fought for the CSA in the War even though Jesse fought in the 7th TN Cavalry Reg., US Army. Jesse's parents were reportedly also born in MS. His father's name may possibly have been Jesse also and the names ELMORE, ESSARY and/or BRAZEAL(sp?) are supposedly in our ancestry but this is only hearsay. Below are the names of Jesse's children in the order of their birth. Perhaps they could have been named after a parent or sibling of Jesse which could provide a clue. Anna "Annie" WOOD (b. 1860/61 TN) Nathaniel Clark WOOD (b. 1868 TN) Charles Franklin WOOD (b. 1871 TN) (My Grandfather) Eugene Vernon WOOD (b. 1875 TN) Jesse L. Wood (b. 1878 MO) Henry Clay "Hal" WOOD (b. 1880 MO) Jessie Lee WOOD (F) (b. 1890 KS) Bessie M. WOOD (b. 1894 OR) I would be grateful for any ideas that you might have. Could you please send me a Descendant's Outline beginning with your William Oliver WOOD, Sr. on down. I have him being married twice (1-Lucinda ???? and 2-Fannie Loretta DUKE) and the names of some children but the dates don't seem correct. Thanks! Hope we can stay in touch! Warm regards, Jack Jesse Lee "Jack" WOOD,III Powell, OH (Formerly from TX) jwood2@insight.rr.com >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> JANET BURKS wrote: > Jack, > Tell me again how you descend from Charles Wood and Rosa and how are > we cousins?
