In 1840, Edward Streaters sons, ( two of the five Streater brothers, heirs to the plantation and some one hundred slaves at one time) moved their caucasian children and select slaves, and caucasian children to Barbour Co., Alabma. All men were freed Jan 1st, 1863, by President Lincoln. Many black Streaters lived in Barbour Co.,Ala., in 1863. When they were freed, some stayed and some moved apparently to Mississippi. Some black Streaters yet live in Morvin and Wadesboro, Anson County, N.C. many of them live there yet.
