The weird thing is that after Jesse it shows Eliza, 26 yrs. I have seen mentioned in a Carroll CO. History book that Arianna Shelton had suffered the loss of her sister Jane, I think it was around 1854 but I will have to check. My sister has my book. Jane's brother Augustus J. was married to my Margaret Wright.

Linda, There are about two dozen Merritts listed, but not the two you requested. Thana If the Carroll County Cemetery Book has an index, will someone please look up Abner Merrill (b. ca 1778, NC) and his wife, Ritter Jones (b. ca 1779, NC). They died sometime after 1850. Thank you, Linda G. Bassie

Carroll County, Mississippi Cemetery by Ethel Bibus and Louise Marshall published by Pioneer Publishing Company P. O. Box 408 Carrollton, MS 38917 Page 46 location of Ely Cemetery: "On the Hebron Road about 4 miles SW of Vaiden & on the west side of Peachahala Creek, near the home of Albert Cuomo" Also states that the marker information was copied in 1968 -- so I would guess the home would be owned by someone else today. The book list 13 stones, one of which had no inscription. Hope this helps, TWC
