    3. Yes I believe that Susan Clark is the one I'm looking for. Thanks for the information. My childrens line carries on with James and Susan's daughter Nannie born abt 1892 that married Burris Ingram in 1910. Thanks, Cindy -----Original Message----- From: Dudley Rinicker [mailto:rinicker@netdoor.com] Sent: Friday, April 25, 2003 4:27 PM To: fmassey@Ameritech.Net Subject: James McNear On the 1880 Carroll County Census: James McNear Age 21 born MS Susan A. McNear Age 22 born MS McNear is the way that the original families spelled their names, the ones who settled in Carroll and Holmes County. I strongly suspect that this is Susan A. Clark that you are seeking. Dudley

    2. If you go to Topozone.com and do a search, you can probably get a topo map of the area you are looking for with the good descriptions that you have. Just locate the county, then search around until you find some labeled Township and Range lines, then section numbers. Not all are numbered, scroll up/down and left/right until you find a bold line with a number or meridian name. Probably the Choctaw Meridian in Carroll Co. I have gotten many when I had good info, but with metes and bounds it is not so easy. Betty

    3. Hi Teresa - I'm not in Carroll County, but know my area is probably similar to Mississippi in dealing with cemeteries. The cemeteries aren't necessarily associated with churches, and marking the grave with a stone or marker of some sort required money to purchase it and some relative to remember and care enough to do it. If there were no survivors, or they lived far away, then...probably no stone. At least one of my Great Grandfathers was buried in an unmarked grave in Arkansas (he was from Carroll County, btw). We have many unmarked graves that we'll never know about. Fortunately some info can come from the memories of family, and some from the cemetery records or the newspaper records. If there's a cemetery inventory on the web site for Carroll county, or another part of Rootsweb.com, perhaps they have a place to indicate info about ancestors in unmarked graves. Does anyone know of any way to record the information about unmarked graves? I'm afraid I don't know. You've given me some inspiration for adding to the Rootsweb web site that I coordinate, so thanks for the question! 3. Hello all, I'm still searching for the parents/siblings of my g-grandfather, Rev./Dr. Jesse Lee (Leonidas?) WOOD who was reportedly b. 1839 in Duck Hill, Carroll (now Montgomery Co.) MS. His family was reportedly farming at the time. Jesse would be approximately 1 years old on the 1840 Census and 11 yrs. old on the 1850 Census. I need someone to check the book Families of Carroll County and to do a Census lookup for all WOOD or WOODS families in Carroll County. I severe health problems so it's difficult for me to go to the libraries to do research. I would, therefore, be willing to pay someone a reasonable fee to do lookups. Thanks for any help you can give me. I look forward to hearing from you. Best regards, Jesse Lee "Jack" WOOD,III Powell, OH (Formerly from TX) jwood2@insight.rr.com
