I have in my notes that Ida B. Williams was the daughter of Andy B Williams (b. abt 1832, d. abt 1867) and Mary E Dumas (b. abt 1837) who lived in Vaiden. I did not write down a source, so I'll have to search for that information. None of my information is proved by me anyway since I'm just beginning to do this. Are you a DAR? My Grandmother, Bonner Richardson, was a DAR using Patrick Cain, Sr as her relative who fought in the war. Patrick Cain, Sr (born 1762 in Ireland, died in 1805)is as far back as I go on that line (he was married to Susan Crawford who I know nothing about). Patrick Cain, Jr (1785-1838) was married to Mary Hubbard (1798-1859). That is all I know of them. Do you know more? Susan

Yes, Susan Cain (mother of Monroe McClurg) was my gr-gr-gr-grandfather, Joseph Cain's, sister. Joseph was the son of Patrick Cain, Jr. Joseph's son, William Walter (Watt) Cain married Ida B. Williams' (wife of Monroe McClurg) sister, Maud A. Williams. So it looks like Monroe and Watt (who were first cousins) married the Williams sisters, Ida and Maud. Have you come up with any other info on Ida? Hope to talk to you soon! Laurie

He is age 28 born LA, daughter born MS. what do you think?? Census Index: U.S. Selected Counties, 1850 Bryant, James A. S. State : MS County : Carroll Co. Location : Southern Division Year : 1850 Page # : 238 Minnie Laws named her first child Falistas, others are: Jennie, Lula, Edna, Jessie Minnie, Mary Ellen, Lelsie King, Annie Laws, & Benjamin David Sterling Matthew. Yep that's one kids name! Benjamin Taylor Laws had: Myrtie Ashbury, Ann Sophrenia, Gus Bryant, Benjamin Early, Percy Bankston, Marie, Allie Baxter, Stella & Della Blanche. My Ida had: Hugh G., Annie Mary, George Benjamin, Henrietta, James L., Milton S., John Fletcher, Fannie, Irby, Edgar & Ida. I've seen the John Fletcher name used a lot in Carroll Co.,MS, I think he was a famous Baptist preacher of the time. Seems I remember seeing that somewhere? In the 1850 Lowdnes Co.,MS census is a Lott W. Laws & kids, eldest son Gustavious Laws. I've always wondered abt that b/c Minnie was given the middle name of Gustavious. In the 1860 census he's not there & can't find him anywhere. this family is one big mystery!!! Cindy

In the 1870 census Ben Taylor Laws was living w/ the James Bryant family & Minnie was w/ the James Wade family. If Anna was Ben Taylor's sister it would seem odd that she named a son after him if she didn't know abt him! However maybe she knew abt him but he didn't know abt her? Ida was her first child & she was born in 1856 most likely in Carroll Co. We actually have a picture of Anna Taylor & her husband, just no name! Can you believe it? If I don't have it scanned I'll get my cousin Nany Hernandez to send a scanned copy. Maybe you'll see a resemblence. Cindy

They did not know each other through life and the two families are unknown at this time. Information obtained from Family Bible that Leon Taylor (grandson) of Benjamin Franklin Taylor, Sr. had. No one knew his sister's name, but perhaps you've come across something that might tie them together? Do you have any other clues? The little bit else I know is that Benjamin was instrumental in the building of the railroads. He used his slaves, and he owned considerable stock in the Illinois Central Railroad. Leon Taylor also stated that his grandfather went to Calif during the Gold Rush, and that his grandfather died two weeks after coming back to Mississippi from pneumonia in 1860 in Carrollton, Carroll Co, MS. Though he did have a mine, his claims were never located. I don't know his birth date, but Benjamin's wife, Otera Emiline Sawyer, was born June 25, 1831. Linda
