Changed spelling of the Guyest, Guest, Guess surname.   Morgan Guess: Born 28 Aug 1773 in Surry, NC and died 8 Feb 1853 in Attala County, MS. Morgan was named after his grand mother Sarah Morgan. Married Nancy Jane Walker of Cork, Ireland, daughter of Simon Walker. Jane was born 1764 and died and buried about 1825 in Copiah County, MS. He served in the War of 1812 with Col. Phillip’s 36th TN Regiment from Franklin County. He married Nancy Hendry, the daughter of Micajah Hendry 24 Nov 1825 in Copiah County, MS. She was previously married to John Crawford and a Greer. He died on 08 February 1853 in Attala County, MS at age 79. Morgan was registered in Copiah County, MS 1850 census at age 77 born in NC, occupation: blacksmith. Morgan's son, Zebadiah had a will, it is available in will book B, page 271, Probated in 1878 in the County Court House, Kosciusko, MS.  It is believed that Morgan Guess is buried in the Guess Grave Yard on his son Zebediah's old home place, 4 miles of West, Miss and 3 miles of Old Lebanon Primitive Baptist Church. Three generations of the family were buried there.   It appears that the surname spelling of Guest to Guess occurred when this family moved to Mississippi.   Should anyone have information that this is incorrect I stand corrected.   Please advise,   Doug Cummins Pensacola, FL
