    3. Nancy Turner Grogan of Canton, Mississippi, an avid amateur genealogist and a frequent contributor to the Attala County web site, passed away on March 14, 2005. Nancy founded and Administered the Turner DNA Project which, at the time of her death had well over one hundred participants. The Turner DNA Project will continue in Nancy's memory. Nancy's Great Grandfather, Clint Turner, migrated to Attala County in 1860. Shortly thereafter Clint married Eliza Jane Bennett and they had nine children, all raised in Attala County. Nancy's Grandfather was Robert "Bob" Turner who married Katie Toler in 1898. They spent there lives in Attala County as well. Nancy's Obituary appeared in the Clarion Ledger this morning, March 16, 2005 and appears below: Everette Carr County Coordinator Attala County - MSGenWeb Obituary Clarion Ledger, Jackson, Mississippi March 16, 2005 Nancy Turner Grogan Canton Nancy Turner Grogan, 61, an historic preservationist, died after struggling with breast cancer Monday, March 14, 2005, at her home. Visitation is 1 p.m. today at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland. Services are 2 p.m. today at the funeral home with burial in Parkway Memorial Cemetery. Nancy was born August 20, 1943 to Marjorie and Eric Turner in Greenwood. She grew up in Jackson where she attended Murrah High School and she graduated from the Mississippi University for Women. Nancy married Bill Grogan on March 21, 1964. They lived in Canton where they renovated a log home known as Tilda Bogue, an 1830s log home on the National Register of Historic Places. Nancy was a member of First Baptist Church in Canton and is survived by her husband, Bill, daughter, Allison Crews, son-in-law, Jim Crews, and their children Jake and Turner of Canton. Her son, Nolen Grogan, daughter-in-law, Julie Grogan and their children Berkley and Will live in Keller, Texas. The family would like to thank Dr. Grace Shumaker and the staff of Jackson Oncology Associates for their dedicated care.
