I am not sure that Jesse Ashley married the "widow" Mary Eakin. In the 1860 census of Attala Co. it has Jesse Ashley listed with Mary, she is age 20. The children are listed as last name Eakin. The male Dock, age 17, is the s/o David Eakin and Elizabeth Eakin. I believe that Mary was also the d/o of David Eakin. Making Mary and Dock brother and sister. The 2 female children, Elizabeth and Louisa, appear to be listed as with the surname Eakin but I think these were the children of Mary and Jesse Ashley. Elizabeth Ashley Eakin[the widow of David Eakin] is living a few houses away, her son William Eakin is living in the home of John C. Ashley on the same census page. He was married for short time to Margaret Eakin, d/o William Eakin and Amy Bishop, she died about 1833 and Charles Ashley married Jane V. Crane.
