    3. WE NEED YOUR HELP! Our grandfather, Lonzy Haywood Minshew, was murdered on August 17, 1963. His body was found lying against a tree in Audubon Park, in New Orleans, Louisiana. His murderers have never been apprehended or brought to justice. Lonzy Haywood Minshew was a hard-working father of eleven (11) children, cut down in the prime of his life - age 46 - in a vicious, brutal attack. We firmly believe this *was not* a random killing and Lonzy Haywood Minshew knew his killer(s). At present, our generation - his grandchildren and their children - have nothing to go on as regards the murder, its subsequent investigation or Lonzy Haywood Minshew, in general. We are seeking *any* information from anyone about Lonzy Haywood Minshew. It is our hope that the more we learn about who Lonzy Haywood Minshew was, the more we are able to *walk in his footsteps*, the closer it will bring us to finding his killer(s). Here is what we do know about Lonzy Haywood Minshew: - Born 30 Dec 1917 in Dossville (Leake County), Mississippi - Parents Allen T. Minshew and Mamie Wooten of Dossville, Mississippi - Grew up in the Attala County and Leake County, Mississippi area -Married Bonnie Kate Wallace, daughter of Frank Wallace and Della Ann Coffee - Moved to New Orleans, Louisiana - Was a welder by trade - Employed at Hepinstall Steel Fabricators, 600 Market, at the time of his murder - Living on St. Mary Street, New Orleans, Louisiana at the time of his murder - Murdered on August 17, 1963 - Vehicle found in the 1100 block of Gaiennie, beneath the Greater New Orleans Bridge approach - Body found in Audubon Park, about 30 feet from River Drive - Murder was originally investigated by a Lieutenant James Kruebbe, Homicide Division, New Orleans Police Department Additional information: - Last name sometimes spelled Minchew. -Lonzy Haywood Minshew's widow, Bonnie Kate Wallace, remarried to a James Walley after Haywood's murder and lived in Marrero, Louisiana.
