    3. It is interesting to see the information on William Cummins. My ggrandfather, Harrison Cobb from Leake County, went through the same sequence of events. Harrison enlisted Leake County, Ms, in Capt. E.C. Postell's Co.E, 24th Reg, CSA, on Sep 10,1863. He was taken prisoner from Walthall's Brigade on 24 Nov 1863 at the battle of Lookout Mountain, Tennesse. He arrived at Rock Island Illinois Prison on 14 Dec 1863. He died there on 12 Jun 1864 from meningitis. His grave marker (#1226) is in the Confederate Cemetary at Rock Island. His son Martin was also a prisoner at Rock Island and returned home to Leake County, Ms. David

    3. David, While my bro and I were at the CSA Cemetery, R. I. during August 2002, we had the time to view each grave seperately. Your gg granddad's grave is in the 12th burial row (100 graves per row.) counting from left to right. All graves face west and you are looking south when entering the cemetery. Each grave is decorated by local volunteers from IA and IL with a CSA battle flag each Memorial Day. The cemetery is well maintained by the National Park Service and protected by the Federal Police Service. It's an interesting place to visit, I recommended anyone that has elders buried there, to pay it a visit. It will be well worth one's time. Doug
