I am interested in learning any information that anyone might have on Tennessee Zollicoffer, born 16 Jun 1841 in Tennessee to Dr. Frederick Zollicoffer and Elizabeth Petillo Love. The family moved to Attala County, Mississippi in the late 1840's and settled in the area of Kosciusko. Tennessee married first to James Mills Edwards on 1 Aug 1861. I find him in 1850 living in Lowndes County, Mississippi. He is not living with his family, so I have nothing on them. He was born about 1830 in Tennessee and died 3 Aug 1867. I am not sure at this point where or any circumstances on his death. James and Tennie had 4 sons: James, Evan, Felix and Jesse. Tennie married the 2nd time to Jesse P. Mills, a chancery clerk in Attala County. He was first married to her sister Marie Amela Zollicoffer. Jesse and Tennie married in 1880. They had one daughter, Mary, which I learned from the DAR Register. Jesse was the son of John and Elizabeth Mills. He was born about 1836 in Kentucky and died in 1898. He is found with his family in Leake County in 1850 and then working as a clerk in Leake County in 1860. Tennessee Zollicoffer died in 1891, but no circumstances or place is known at this time for her death either. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I would esp. love to know if cemetery locations are known for these individuals. I do not live in the Attala area and have looked on the Internet but have found no listings for them. Johnnie JACKSON, died Dec 18, 1862, aged 1 yr 10 mo 11 das, son of John A. & Sue A. Jackson John A. JACKSON, Sept 4, 1816 - July 8, 1861 "Father" * Susan A. JACKSON, Nov 26, 1832 - Mar 28, 1912, His Wife, "Mother" * Tennie Vic PEEBLES, Dec 5, 1858 - Sept 1, 1898, dau of John A. & Sue A. Jackson, "Tennie" The M.E. within parenthesis indicates that Frederick was a Mason. The other notations within parenthesis are those of the individual that copied the cemetery based on their personal knowledge. As we now know, Mary Mills was J. P. Mills first wife, Tennie his second and Ophelia Doty, his third. In the section of the cemetery where the Doty family is buried we find the following graves: J. P. MILLS, died 30 Dec 1898 Ophelia MILLS, 29 Apr 1859 - 11 Jan 1923, wife of J. P. Mills Rick, I hope this is helpful.
