My records do show a Carman D. Boyett, born 1915, as a male, son of William T. Boyett. He would be the second great-grandson of Evan and Millie Boyett. Would this be the one you are looking for? Sorry. I have a correction. William W. Boyett's wife was Elizabeth Rice Williamson, not Margaret. Margaret Calhoun was the wife of William's brother John W. Boyett. I have a pretty good record of the three Boyett males who lived in Attala. Probably more than 100 names. William was the oldest, born 1794 in North Carolina. Next was John W., born 1796 in North Carolina. Evan was born 1803 in North Carolina, married to Millie Wallace. John and Evan both married in Mississippi, John in Lawrence Co. in 1829, and Evan in Attala Co.in 1835. All three of these men and their families died and are buried in Attala County. -----Original Message----- From: msattala-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:msattala-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Doug. I don't know of a Carmen Boyett. Actually, I don't know anyone named Boyett. I am descended from William and Margaret Boyett who came to Attala well before 1850. We were in Kos for a get-together of Boyett and England descendants. Someone in the group told us about the great food at Rib Alley and that the owner was related through the Boyetts. -----Original Message----- From: msattala-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:msattala-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Jeannie Sent: Saturday, September 26, 2009 4:15 PM To: msattala@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [MSATTALA] Historical Genealogy Did you know of a Carmen Boyett -----Original Message----- >From: Martha Boggs <lmboggs@suddenlink.net> >Sent: Sep 26, 2009 12:01 PM >To: msattala@rootsweb.com >Subject: Re: [MSATTALA] Historical Genealogy > >We ate there when in Kos a few years ago. does any one have information on John Wesley Bailey or Edith Jackson Crittenden; or the Miss Baily that was a school teacher at McAdams in 1940 to 1960;
have you ever seen the book that was put out a few years back It was sold at the Zama Community Gathering on the 4 Saturday in May. I beleive it was done by the Star Harled. Excuse the spelling. It had a lot of the old pictures in it. -----Original Message----- >From: Charles <tenman.1@sbcglobal.net> >Sent: Sep 25, 2009 1:55 PM >To: msattala@rootsweb.com >Subject: Re: [MSATTALA] Attala County Books > >E,R,Hutchison, thank for the information on the book that was the most information i got all year from this site; it good to now about the book shop; been look for book on Attala co fore a long time;thank you ; Doug has been any help at all; > >Charles McAdams, > >p o box 20184 > >white hall ark > > 71612 > >tenman.1@sbcglobal.net > >phone 870 247 5123 > >--- On Thu, 9/24/09, E. I think you are referring to the book of 20th century photos of Attala County residents and places. It was published by the Star-Herald about ten years ago and sells for about $40. We have a copy in our shop, but, I think copies are still available from the Chamber of Commerce or, perhaps, from the original publisher. We ate there when in Kos a few years ago. We had the pulled pork sandwiches which were SO good. I think the owner/mgr is a Boyett descendant, is that right? So am I. Cummins Sent: Friday, September 25, 2009 10:29 AM To: msattala@rootsweb.com Subject: [MSATTALA] Historical Genealogy Having knowledge of a popular eatery, "The Rib Alley"(Owner/Mgr, my cuz by the way). situated on Kosciusko's historical square. I became aware of a wealth of historical knowledge while dinning on their famous "Baby-Back Ribs". You can see most of the old buildings that line the square and get a clear view of the 1894 red brick Court House, the civil war statue and of course and the original red clay bricks that once lined most the narrow streets in Attala County. Just a few blocks to the east of the Rib Alley Restaurant is an excellent source family genealogy, the Regional Library on Jefferson Street. Most days Mom-Sat a clerk will be available assist in your quest. So if your dining out, doing family research or both. You won't be disappointed on first or next visit to Attala County. --- On Fri, 9/25/09, msattala-request@rootsweb.com <msattala-request@rootsweb.com> wrote: > From: msattala-request@rootsweb.com <msattala-request@rootsweb.com> > Subject: MSATTALA Digest, Vol 4, Issue 50 > To: msattala@rootsweb.com > Date: Friday, September 25, 2009, 3:00 AM > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. Thank you, Ed for giving us your website. I found a lot on genealogy to enlighten and gospel songs to enjoy. I think I will bookmark it as a favorite so I can refer to it quickly. You will find a link to my book, "Yesterday," at my website www.ERHutchison.com I have also posted several excerpts of the book on the Internet. These sites, too, are linked to the above URL. Jim Lacey wrote a very interesting book, "History Bits," that covers Madison County history. The Emporium carries it. Jim told me last week that there are now fewer than ten copies remaining of the thousand initially published. Anyone with an interest in Canton and vicinity will want this book. There are other books that relate to the history of the area but they are out-of-print and the shop has only one copy of each in stock. There are another 15-20 books that are of regional or statewide interest. They have local authors and/or local topics. Mrs. Porter's book about Sallis, Elma Heffner's book about the McLellan family, Mr. Johnson's book on the family of Samuel Isaiah White, and a collection of letters from the Neaves family, are excellent, but out-of-print, and I don't know where you would find a copy other than at the Kosciusko library. If you have other questions, please feel free to call me days at 601-906-8571. Having knowledge of a popular eatery, "The Rib Alley"(Owner/Mgr, my cuz by the way). situated on Kosciusko's historical square. The recent discussion of Attala County books reminds me to point out that my own book, "Yesterday: The descendants of John Hutchison and Elizabeth Frazier of Attala County," and several other books dealing with the history and genealogy of Attala and Madison County are now available for sale at a new shop in Canton. The store, known as The Emporium, is owned by my son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Amy Hutchison. It contains items from about 15 or 20 different vendors--including a few from Attala County--who are selling antiques, art work, books, women's clothes, jewelry (antique as well as costume), tee-shirts, games, magic tricks, furniture, glassware, collectibles, dolls, and a hundred other things that I am forgetting. If your travels take you to Canton--perhaps for the semi-annual flea market--please stop in and say, "Hello." You'll find The Emporium in a 100 year old building on the east side of Canton's historic Court House Square. Edward Hutchison www.ERHutchison.com
