    2. For your information, Mary McCool Fenwick, (Mrs. Ed) died Nov. 27, 2000. Her son, Jason McCool Fenwick, died March 13, 2000. I try to keep the obituaries of people I knew from Attala Co. None of us will be around to quote from this book by the time we would legally be entitled to. Bernice Carter

    3. Jim, Copyright protection begins with the creation of the work or when it is registered. Copyright protection lasts for the lifetime of the author and then for a period of seventy years after the death of the author. Also, it can not be assumed that all of the Fenwicks have passed away. Mrs. Edward Fenwick had a nephew named Eddie Fenwick (Bertha's son) that currently resides in Kosciusko. I believe he is an attorney. I wrote to him seeking to obtain permission to post the cemetery listings to the Attala County MSGenWeb site, but did not receive a reply. I don't recall exactly when Marymagnos Fenwick passed away, but we will have to wait 70 years from that date before we can post information to the Internet using the "Attala County Mississippi Cemeteries" book as a source. That is, unless I can obtain written permission from a descendant. If anyone living in Kosciusko knows Eddie Fenwick and could convince him to give permission, all Attala County researchers would be grateful. He is listed as white, but all of his immediate neighbors are Choctaw Indians. The fact that Indians are enumerated on this census and listed as free blacks came as quite a surprise to me. I have seen a few individual Indians listed on other censuses, but it was a very rare practice, and to see so many in one county was a revelation. Does anyone know who this Adam Foster was? He, along with most of the Choctaws in Attala Co., are gone by 1850. Did he accompany them to the Indian Territory? And how does Adam relate to the Emily Foster aged 15, b. Mississippi and Margaret Foster aged one year, b. Texas who are on the Rusk Co., Texas census? They were living in the household of James Simmons who moved to Texas from Attala Co. in the 1850s. I am particularly interested in this Foster-Simmons relationship and would like to hear from anyone with ties to Attala and Winston Co., Mississippi who knows anything about these families.
