They only have the one librarian, she is very kind and helpful but has other duties as well and may not always be in the library. Thanks Jimmy, I just spoke to the librarian at Mississippi College in Clinton, she is to e-mail me their list of Attala County Baptist churches in which they have minutes. As soon as I receive the librarian's list, it will be posted on this site. They don't do lookups or other related services. MS College is located just west off Jackson, MS just off of inter-state 20 as you go toward Vicskburg. Visitors are welcome............ Doug
Thank for the information. Thank you Pat. This is great information. I too am trying to get to Doty Springs early fall to make visual (pictures) of the cemetery as best as possible. Will someone please explain to me why I am not receiving ALL of the e-mails posted to the list? I received not one of those posted in this e-mail until now and they date back to July 5. This is not the first time this has happened. It does appear that if I received this one, I should have received them earlier. I don't understand it. Can someone tell me? Mozelle P. As a follow up to my earlier question in reference to Attala County's Baptist church minutes. I recently visited Samford Univ. at Birmingham and viewed their micro-filmed records of Ruhama Baptist Church of Jefferson County, unfortunately they didn't have any info (Church Minutes.) on MS Counties. Quite a few folks migrated to Winston, Choctaw, Attala and surrounding counties from that neck of the woods in the 1800's. Doug
Does anyone one know where the 1800's church minutes are housed for Attala County's Baptist Churches? Thank you, Doug

Catherine. 'Way back in January, I told you I would send you info. on the 20th MS. However, on my last message to you, I said that I had a very seriously ill family member and I would get back to you a.s.a.p.-- Sadly, that was my beloved brother and he passed away the last part of Jan. and it's taken me this long to "try" and get back to un-finished business. Anyhow, did you find out how to get your CW ancestor's military records? I got mine through the MS archives in Jackson. Let me know if I can be of help. Also, can you give me more info. on Dallas O'Briant. Did he survive the War and where is he buried and does he have the proper CW memorial? God Bless. Steve, I tried to find Nowell Lake in Attalla county Plat Directory that I have a copy of. It shows all the land and owners in Attalla county. Sorry to say all the lakes were not named. Nowell being one of the unnamed lakes. I suggest you call Attala Chamber of Commerce at 601-289-2981, its possible they have maps that would show this lake. I got my Plat Directory there. Good luck Ed Brown Have a great day! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steve Mitchell" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, July 02, 2004 7:55 AM Subject: [MSATTALA] Nowell Lake > Does anyone know whereabouts of Nowell Lake in Attala County...supposedly burial site of my ggranduncle... > Thank you. > > ........................................... > S T E V E N M I T C H E L L > > > ==== MSATTALA Mailing List ==== > To unsubscribe: send an email to [email protected]@rootsweb.com with the word unsubscribe in the body of the message. Actually, the area code for Attala County is 662 not 601. Many of the 'lakes' in Attala are actually ponds on the land of the namesake. Sometimes the lakes are renamed to something else with different owners, etc. Good luck! Everette - If you need me to take anyone's place, I would be more than happy. I own the Attala Co, MS Cemetery book along with the Kosciusko-Attala History book. Let me know if you need me and what I need to do to make it happen. Donna Lowery Drake ----- Original Message ----- From: Everette Carr To: [email protected] Sent: Thursday, July 01, 2004 10:36 AM Subject: [MSATTALA] Look up volunteers I have recently had to remove four names from the list of volunteers on the Look Up page for Attala County due to the fact that the volunteers changed their E-mail addresses without notifying me. Among the missing are: Connie Tucker Sharon Huband Glee Crocker Gay Wall It is possible that these individuals are no longer interested in providing this service to Attala County researchers, or perhaps they just forgot that I would need their new address. If any of the above individuals wishes to continue to be listed on the Look Up page, they should contact me with their new E-mail address.
