    3. David, While my bro and I were at the CSA Cemetery, R. I. during August 2002, we had the time to view each grave seperately. Your gg granddad's grave is in the 12th burial row (100 graves per row.) counting from left to right. All graves face west and you are looking south when entering the cemetery. Each grave is decorated by local volunteers from IA and IL with a CSA battle flag each Memorial Day. The cemetery is well maintained by the National Park Service and protected by the Federal Police Service. It's an interesting place to visit, I recommended anyone that has elders buried there, to pay it a visit. It will be well worth one's time. Doug

    3. It is interesting to see the information on William Cummins. My ggrandfather, Harrison Cobb from Leake County, went through the same sequence of events. Harrison enlisted Leake County, Ms, in Capt. E.C. Postell's Co.E, 24th Reg, CSA, on Sep 10,1863. He was taken prisoner from Walthall's Brigade on 24 Nov 1863 at the battle of Lookout Mountain, Tennesse. He arrived at Rock Island Illinois Prison on 14 Dec 1863. He died there on 12 Jun 1864 from meningitis. His grave marker (#1226) is in the Confederate Cemetary at Rock Island. His son Martin was also a prisoner at Rock Island and returned home to Leake County, Ms. David

The other notations within parenthesis are those of the individual that copied the cemetery based on their personal knowledge. As we now know, Mary Mills was J. P. Mills first wife, Tennie his second and Ophelia Doty, his third. In the section of the cemetery where the Doty family is buried we find the following graves: J. P. The family moved to Attala County, Mississippi in the late 1840's and settled in the area of Kosciusko. Tennessee married first to James Mills Edwards on 1 Aug 1861. I find him in 1850 living in Lowndes County, Mississippi. He is not living with his family, so I have nothing on them. He was born about 1830 in Tennessee and died 3 Aug 1867. I am not sure at this point where or any circumstances on his death. James and Tennie had 4 sons: James, Evan, Felix and Jesse. Tennie married the 2nd time to Jesse P. They had one daughter, Mary, which I learned from the DAR Register. Jesse was the son of John and Elizabeth Mills. He was born about 1836 in Kentucky and died in 1898. He is found with his family in Leake County in 1850 and then working as a clerk in Leake County in 1860. Tennessee Zollicoffer died in 1891, but no circumstances or place is known at this time for her death either. Any information would be greatly appreciated. 3. Thanks Everette and Wanda for the info on the burials. I had Davidellas and Frederick's but did not know if the rest of the family was buried there or not. This helps tremendously. Everette, the Jesse Kirk Mills is probably right. Tennie's grandmother was Martha Kirk and Frederick even named his oldest daughter, Martha Kirk Zollicoffer. The Kirk name was used many times as a middle name in this family i.e. Felix Kirk Zollicoffer, first Confederate general killed in the Civil War. Do either of you know of anyone in the Attala County area that takes photos of tombstones? I have met some in areas that do this and either e-mail them or mail copies. Some charge for it and some do it as a lookup. I am willing to pay if I need too. I am using them for my research and then am posting them at FindAGrave.com for future use of others. I do lookups in this area (Maury County, TN) in the same way and offer photos when requested. I then try to post those photos to Find A Grave and to the Maury County, Tennessee Cemeteries site. Thanks again for the info and if you know of someone in the area who might could get photos of the Zollicoffer graves (digital or otherwise), I would appreciate it too. 3. Are any of you kin to the Sims who founded Simsbury, CT in the 18th century? I was just there and got the Simsbury Central Cemetery record book. 3. HAS ANYONE EVER FOUND ISORA HODGES? I have a Isora Hodges who was the brother of George William Hodges [b.1828]. They were the sons of a William Hodges. George Hodges married Elizabeth Guess. They had a son named Drury Lafayette Hodges. A daughter married, Matilda, who married William F. Neel who was born in Chickasaw Co., Ms. They also had a sister, Annie Nancy, who married Hockaday Brister, both born in S.C. This info has not been researched by me but bits of info I have collected along the way. I hope this may give you a lead.
