Thank you Rayedene! I should have made a page by page search. I'm getting lazy. I really appreciate your help. Family names I am researching in Attala Co are Dumas/Dumis(Obediah, Silas, Wilson, William) Miller(Henry, Aaron, Thomas) Suggs(Rolling/Roland) and Ousley There was also GL Reynolds that married Ann Dumas in abt 1903. I have Harriet Ann Dumas b 1848 who I found in Little River AR 1910 living with her sister Bettie Dumas Miller enumerated as Harriet A. Rennels. I would be interested in knowing if anyone has information on this marriage. There were not any children born to them considering their ages. I believe he was Green Reynolds. Thanks, Rayedene
Janie, If you go to pg 176D, you will find the rest of the Pickle family, I believe. It is Dist 19, pg 16 out of 61 on ancestry. There are some notes in the heading on Lewis Pickles page and some notes in the margin on pg 176D. Pg 176D also has "Pg 13" at the top where Lewis' is pg 12. Rayedene
I just received a reply from Ancestry saying according to printed page numbers there are no missing pages, only missing household numbers. Guess that means I'll never know who, if anyone, should have been listed on the "next page" because it was lost before the enumerator turned in his pages. Janie
Thanks for the look-up but no, my Jacob Lewis was born AL abt.1820, married May mary Black [as mentioned earier by Sam Pickle.] 1880 is his final census year. I beleive his page was 12D and the next page available at Ancestry was 14A. I'd hate to miss some ancestors on the pages between the two. In 1858 James A Carlisle was made guardian of Andrew R. Johnson. In September 1858 John T. Gaston, James Hubbert and Robert M. Harris were appointed commissioners to divide the stock of the estate of Jane D. Johnson, deceased, assigning Andrew R. Johnson, one half of the stock. James A. Carlisle is my great-grandfather. Robert M. Harris is my great-great grandfather. Can anyone tell me more about Jane D. Johnson? I would like to know if there is more than a casual connection to my Carlisle/Harris lines. Janie
Jacob Lewis is my second great grandfather. I found him in 1880 census as the last entry on the page, in household 102. Ancestry Census does not have pages for household 103 - 111. Pat, thank you for responding. Yes, we are 'found' cousins! Thanks, Lois
My primary connection with Attala County is through the Keith family. My father was born there and may family members are buried in the Bowlin Cemetery. I see by my records that great-grandfather James (Jimmie) Keith married Mary Ann Brown on Nov 3, 1844, in Lauderdale County, so I guess I should add Brown as a family name of interest. (Haven't researched her so far.) Jack Keith Falls Church, VA
Hi Lois: I have info on Cassa's parents. I'm late going to my office sthis am and when I come home tonite, I'll get back with you. God Bless. Pat Barnett Clayton P.S. Hi, my interest is mostly in the Bailey's. Ms. LaNelle Renfro is in my documentation. Very interesting. I am looking for James Thomas Bailey. I believe him to be the brother of John Wesley Bailey, both born in TN and migrated to MS then some on to TX. My major surnames are: BAILEY, BURKES, CROSBY, DAVIS, GREESON, HOUSTON, KELLUM, KELLY, LANEY, MOONEY, RIGBY, SALLIS, STEEN, THOMAS, WILLIAMS I have MANY other surnames in my research. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ed Brown" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, December 27, 2004 9:35 AM Subject: Re: [MSATTALA] Roll Call > Searching for: Ballard, Brown, Brashier, Burns, Deas/Dees, Ferrell, > Howard, Thomas, Steens and others. > > Ed Brown > Have a great day! > > > > > ==== MSATTALA Mailing List ==== > Before forwarding any Virus Warnings or Chain Letters to anyone, check > them out at: http://hoaxbusters.ciac.org/ Also, please Visit the Attala > County Rootsweb site at http://www.rootsweb.com/~msattala/ >
Bell, Davis, Rice are Attalla Co. Miss. that I am interested in. Thank you for the Roll Call.
Pat, I believe your Barnett line is connected to my Maddox/Mattox line. Cassandra 'Cassa' Barnett married Aaron Mattox. His sister married a Barnett. Aaron was born in VA abt. 1795. I found a land patent in AL for Aaron Mattox with remarks, name: Calvin Barnett, issued Aug. 17, 1838. Aaron had children named William, Freeman, Calvin, Amanda, others, and my great grandfather, Seaborn F. Mattox. Aaron & Cassa Mattox were living in Tuskaloosa (Tuscaloosa) Co. AL in 1850. They migrated to Attala Co.MS via VA, GA, AL to MS. I am at a dead end on Aaron & Cassa Barnett as I unable to find the parents of either. Thanks, Lois Tyler Cockrell

Catherine. On one record, I have Russ Ray born in AL in 1841. Then on the 1870 census, he is shown as being 23 years old--which would put him being born in 1947? Gee Whiz! Thanks for the information. I am especially interested in John Wesley Bailey and the Sullivants. Renfro does not ring a bell with my Renfro family, but of course I don't know all of them. Will be leaving Akumal, Mexico in a few hours and will be back in San Diego. Will write more from there. I have a daughter who lives in Roanoke, Virginia.
