For any researchers for the Laney Family: The C.D. Laney [1838-1914] that is listed in Rocky Point is a brother to my g/grand mother [Elizabeth P. Laney McElroy Brewer],and is also my name sake or I am his name sake, what ever HA!!! A small error there in the listing as he is Oliver David Laney, Elizabeth named her son Oliver David Laney McElroy, Oliver D. named his son Oliver Hazzard McElroy, Oliver H. named me Oliver Denton McElroy and I named my oldest son Oliver Glenn McElroy. He stopped the Oliver there by saying that enough is enough. A very well kept cemetery. Everette: Bowlin Baptist Church Homecoming is the 2nd Sunday in June. Teresa Martin
Hi All! We are approaching that time of year when many of the Attala County churches hold Homecoming events. I would like to post information on upcoming church Homecomings to the Attala web site so that all those interested in attending can learn where and when the Homecoming is to occur. So, I am asking those among you that have or know of dates, times, places of upcoming church Homecomings, I would appreciate your alerting me or pointing me to the individual that would have the information. In addition to posting what is coming up, I would also like to do a post-event review with scans of the program, photographs, whatever. How about it, are there researchers out there that are willing to help me out here? Everette Carr County Coordinator Attala County - MSGenWeb
Hello Everette, Doty Springs' Baptist Church Home Coming is the 3rd Sunday in May of each year. Happy Easter, Doug. Cummins
Pat, I did not know your email address. The last time we emailed was in regard to the Peeler Baptist Church. It is in the Attala Co Ceme book by Mrs. Fenwick as Center Baptist Church and there are not any early graves of the families I am interested in. Do you know if they have any church minutes? I am trying to trace our family lines and was wondering if anyone had information about my paternal grandfather, William Thomas Williams. He was married (1904?) to Arrie Mendia Huff (b. 1888 d. 1970) and later moved to Missouri. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail - You care about security. So do we.

Thanks so much LaNelle. I am just now beginning to research this marriage. The Heralds/Harralds and Stuckeys I mentioned are my ancestors. I have been trying to find J. M. and Betty in the 1900 census with no luck. It's very possible that this man was related to those you mention. I have found a Dotson family in Attala Co. with a son named James M. H. Dotson. He would be about the right age to have married Betty who was born in 1868. Right now that's all I have to go on.
