    1. Re: [MSATTALA] Fw: {not a subscriber} County Records Being Rapidly Lost
    2. Dennis K. Boswell
    3. Everette, the last time I was up in that attic was about seven years ago. My recollection is that there was a huge volume of records, mostly bound in years of hardback ledger-type binders. I was not aware the County Supervisors had committed funds for new file cabinets. I can only hope they first surveyed the size and number of bound records to be stored before placing their file cabinet order. It really was quite large, occupying many cubic feet of the attic. Thanks for the update on this issue. I hope someone else has a more current update for all of us. 3. On the 1850 Census - Attalla Co listed with Jerry Fancher (#740) there is a John Carter Fancher and Jefferson Davis listed. John is not a Fancher but a Carter. The Fanchers moved to LA and then to TX. I know that Jefferson is a son of Polly Fancher and William Davis who married in Cahawba Co. (later Bibb Co), AL in 1818. They had 5 children. Polly and William died prior 1847 and he supposedly Died in LA. Do not know where Polly died and no idea where they are buried. Would like to make contact with anyone researching these families. Thanks Paula [email protected]

    3. Good news, Holley, The Rocky Point Cemetery, or at least a portion of it, has been posted to the Attala County MSGenWeb site this date. Due to the fact that this is a very large cemetery, when it was copied in 1958, only individuals born prior to 1875 were copied. I am not aware of any online listing that would include the entire cemetery. You and any other Attala County or Leake County researcher interested in the Rocky Point Cemetery can visit the listing by clicking on the following link: (AOL users will have to copy and paste). http://www.rootsweb.com/~msattala/rockypointcem.html Everette Carr County Coordinator Attala County - MSGenWeb ----- Original Message ----- From: "Holly Whitney" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, April 02, 2005 12:35 PM Subject: Re: [MSATTALA] first post to list I checked the on line , rootsweb, cemeterys and did not find any Lovorns listed as buried in any of the cemeterys on their listed cemeterys. I sure I could have missed some and some cemeterys may not be on thhe list yet. I am trying to connect the Lovorns fron Attala County with the Lovorns from Winston County. I believe that the Lovorn/Lovern/Lovvorn etc are all related. So any information on Lovorns in the Attala County (and else where in Ms etc) area and their familys is very interesting to me.

    3. You will find Lovorn in the Rocky Point Cemetery - they have it listed with the Leake County, MS Cemeteries, I think. Look in the Attala and Leake County, MS cemeteries. I think it is near Barnes or the Mary Dell Community.
