I have been very successful in using clorox on tombstones with death date around the 1830s in the Ludlow, Scott County, MS Cemetery. Hi Everyone! It's been a while since I've had the chance to work on my genealogy or reply to any of your great emails, but I try to read them all. You never know when someone might have the same names! I specifically enjoyed the History of Attalla County a while back. Thanks so much for posting the Kosciusko City Cemetery listing. My son is named after his many many great grandfather who is Mattie BAIN and listed there! Does anyone on this list live close enough to Kosciusko that they could visit the cemetery and take a photo of he and his wife's grave for me? Since the cemetery is so big, could this same person give me directions on how to locate the grave. I've wandered around looking for graves before in a big cemetery with no luck. I'd hate to drive so far and not be able to find it. I sincerely appreciate any help someone could lend. Sincerely, Danny McHale [email protected]
Seeking information for a Jackson, Mississippi resident. Does anyone have a 1964or 1966 Year Book for Ethel High School which contains a page which includes seniors, Raymond Parkerson and Virginia Ann Pee? They would appear side-by-side on the same page. Need to confirm that they graduated from Ethel High School and when? Also need a scanned image of the page on which they appear. Can anyone help? Everette Carr Attala County Coordinator MSGenWeb
Ed, Unfortunately, I cannot help you with a more recent listing for Parkway Cemetery, however, for those that do not have access to the cemetery book, the Parkway Cemetery listing that was prepared in 1974, has been posted to the Attala County website. With Mother's Day just a day away, it is fitting to post a tribute to mothers everywhere. This tribute, however, speaks of Mothers that are living rather than of those that have passed away. If your mother is still living, you may want to take a moment to read and reflect. For all too many of us, it is too late. View this tribute at http://www.rootsweb.com/~msattala/alivingmother.html Everette Carr p.s. Sorry, I can't always be perfect!

Yes, on closer inspection, the file cabinets were purchased for the Chancery Court. The issue of building cabinets to store the Court House records was left for future review and discussion. If nothing has happened, it might be time that the Supervisors got another wake up call. Since I do not reside in Attala County, I have no way of knowing the current status of the records unless someone checks it out and advises us. I believe is I'm not mistaken the file cabinets were for the Chancery Clerks Office to perserve older records in. The board also say they would look into building cubicles to store those in the attic. That is the last I have heard about it. Someone needs to find out what is going on with them. To the Attala County Mail List Subscribers; The following message was received from a non-subscriber that visited the Attala MSGenWeb web site and was wondering if any progress has been made with respect to protecting the county's records. It has been almost a year since the County Supervisors committed funds for new file cabinets to protect the records stored in the County Court House attic. I have been remiss in not following up to ensure that the records are now safe from further deterioration. Does anyone have information as to the status of the records in question?
