Wilson, then through John Louis Spillman, his daughter Clara Spillman (my grandmother) and finally Clara's daughter Dorothy Shuckrow, my mother. I have researched Elizabeth C. Wilson extensively, and while I have no absolute proof, have concluded with a very high degree of confidence that Elizabeth was not married before her Spillman marriage. Castina was very likely born out of wedlock (see records of Eastfork Baptist Church) and Elizabeth was the daughter of Arak Wilson and Eliza Everett. The old family story was that Elizabeth's maiden name was Ferguson, but this is almost certainly obfuscation to avoid the stigma of illegitimacy. In fact Elizabeth's younger sister Martha married John Ferguson, which may have given rise to the erroneous assumption of Elizabeth's maiden name.
